He’ll likely be a coveted DC for someone, maybe Lincoln Riley at USC.

edit: forgot to mention Baylor since he was a mentee under Aranda at Wisconsin

Assume some of the allure of assistant hiring is that they bring some of their players with them.

It’s too bad that Joe Harasymiak is one of the better coaches on the staff. Leonard would’ve been the perfect DC for Schiano, although he would’ve been a threat to take over if Schiano goes down. Hell, Harasymiak may be that threat as well. We’ll see.

This was kind of expected. IIRC he was making about 6M/yr at Purdue so Louisville go the "hometown discount" lol. No idea if Brian Brohm is any good, would Purdue consider promoting him or would they go outside for a coach.

Jim Leonhard is out there now, wonder if Purdue would give him a shot or will they stick with an offensive coach. I don't know what his buyout is but if it's not prohibitive, I think Matt Campbell might get a look here. His star has has dimmed a bit but he's still a solid coach. Garrett Riley maybe? Jason Candle?

I think Campbell signed a deal recently that made his buyout fairly substantial.

Similar to Kiffin’s 3 contracts in 3 years. They’re not the only ones. What’s the point of the contract, it’s worth nothing from the AD’s end. If they do okay or better they get a bump but if they suck do they return the money, of course not. One sided deals and the ADs are “thank you sir may I have another.”

I guess Paul Chryst has some real stink on him or does not want to coach anymore. Wasn’t he as good as Bielma?

Garrett might be only 33 but has a bright future and the Boilermakers might want in on the action
I think it will be between Garrett and Jason

Oh man talk about change in offense for Wisconsin and Fickell to an extent. I think it a a good move though. I can’t say if Longo will work but I’ve always said offense is the path with most potential and if they’re looking to take that next step this could help.

Thinking about it, the only thing that would be more shocking than this would be KF firing his son and Iowa hiring a Leach/Briles tree OC too 😂

Dan Mullen, UGA OC Todd Monken, Illinois DC Ryan Walters and Purdue co-DC Mark Hagen are some other names I've seen tied to Purdue

Jason Garrett and Troy Taylor are a couple of the finalists for Stanford. Mendenhall, Roman, Fangio not in the mix anymore. Garrett was also a finalist for Duke last year before they went with Elko.

Just looking at Sacramento State’s history prior to Troy Taylor to the record now, I’d go with him if I was Stanford. He’s coached in the PAC12 before too as OC for Whittingham. He’s been in the west his whole career as opposed to Garrett who has never coached in college or the west. He’d have a better chance to succeed than Garrett imo.
