Purdue loses Williams and Ivey and might actually be a better team this year. Unreal
Or maybe Dookie, like U of Cheat (UNC), is not good right now because you can't turn over the roster every year and expect instant results.
Looks like Zach Eady has continued to improve as well. Very impressive wins over both Gonzaga and Puke.
Edey looks like a player. Last year he was an okay guy who was huge. This year he is able to do what he wants inside. Very impressive.
It could also be that their Hall of fame coach retired.
They expect their teams to grow a lot in season, and they aren’t afraid to take a couple of early season losses, they are willing to play all the best teams. UNC from last year is a great example, they took early losses to Purdue, Tennessee and Kentucky, and went on to play for the championship.

Edey's per-40 stats were always insane, it's just impressive that he's maintained that playing more minutes.
Assuming Gonzaga (6) and Duke (8) were properly ranked to begin with, then Purdue should be #5.
Edey could do many great things but there is one thing I'll always remember him for:
Edey seems to have really transformed his body over the off-season. He looks much more lean and athletic, lighter on his feet.
Eddy right now is one of the the best players in college basketball because no opponent can guard him with a man to man defense.Purdue should be ranked in the top five after defeating Gonzaga and Duke.Great head coach who keeps recruiting top tier talent.
Edey held offers from Baylor, Minnesota, Western Kentucky, Tulane and Purdue. Careful about putting all of your energy into where rankings are for kids......rankings are based on NBA potential, not college basketball contributions.
Was another late bloomer. Didn't start playing basketball until he was a sophomore in high school. He played hockey and baseball when he was younger
Law of averages. There will always be exceptions but typical 4 star will simply be better than the typical 3 star. Doesn't mean you don't have to do your due diligence to find hidden gems and also be discerning amongst the higher ranked kids.
He has something you can’t teach, height. And guys that tall are generally late bloomers, although the French kid who will be next year‘s #1 pick shows it doesn’t always happen that way.
