Was heading to Louisville, with Milt Wagner I believe but I think Nike stepped in here

The Wagner’s, Tripucka’s, and Hurley’s couldn’t find the RAC with a GPS.
I think someone told me the closest we got with the Tripucka’s was a relative who was a P.A. announcer at the RAC at one time. I never confirmed.

Was never headed to Louisville. Father played for Cal and understands he will best prepare him for the NBA and will maximize his draft position.

Nycrusupporter ... You’re probably correct, but Milt was hired only this past May to his current position, Director of Player Development & Alumni Relations. Doesn’t sound like a coaching position.

He's had dominant recruiting classes consistently, much more dominant than any B1G team so that makes sense.

Cal is obviously a great basketball coach and is top tier on the recruiting trail, but it's hard to argue that he hasn't underperformed given the talent they've had come through the program.

The recruits going to Kentucky and Duke are mostly one and done type players.Winning national championships will always be important for the coaches but not so much for the players who want the NBA paycheck.

What is weird though when you look at the NBA today, and sometimes even the NFL.

Blue bloods may produce the "most" pro level guys (because they get them through recruiting). But a lot of the top guys don't usually come from Blue Bloods.

Look at the up and coming NBA stars.

Ja - Murray State
Lamelo - No college
Haliburton - Iowa State
Cunningham - OK State
Mobley - USC
Edwards - Georgia
Young - Oklahoma.

Sure there are guys like Tatum, Banchero and Zion.

But going to a Blue blood isn't the best route to NBA stardom, its a cop out for guys who don't want to grind their 1 season in college.

If they fire him he can apply for a similar position at Kentucky

Many of the NBA's better players didn't even play in college. The last 4 NBA MVPs were won by players who never played college basketball. Many of the NBA MVPs that did play college basketball in the last 20 years didn't come from the blueblood schools.

Many players will develop more at the schools like those listed than at the blue bloods. At Murray St or Oklahoma, the best players need to do everything for their teams to be successful. Blue Blood are going to have players specialize more and focus on their strengths.
Not an absolute by any means, but having to do everything is great for the best players' development.

sidenote ,the Camden vs Roselle game from last year championship at the RAC is on you tube and it's really something else . high intensity throughout and guys going to the hole , attacking physical defenses relentlessly. not the best 3 point shooting teams and they both certainly know it they way they play.

Well yea because Jokic and Giannis are Euro but I meant looking at the top USA guys, you are right most either didn't got to college and if they did they didn't really go to blue bloods

Some of it speaks to the importance of experience, continuity, etc. They get great players, but the great ones don't stay for long and never fully get to mature and gel.
