I would assume Dylan visited Duke this weekend as he has a picture up of himself in a Duke uniform
This is one if we lose I will be beyond upset weHAVE to get Dylan!!

Not flaking we knew he was visiting Duke just want to hear that I am committed to Rutgers sooner than laterEvery kid takes pictures during the visit in the team uniform as it’s part of the process. Don’t flake out about it.
On TOS UNC board there was no info about the scrimmage yet either... butttt there were a couple posts saying Dylan is a lock to RU. Someone golfed with Harper Sr supposedly
You? Upset? I don’t believe itI would assume Dylan visited Duke this weekend as he has a picture up of himself in a Duke uniform

I still think Dylan as good as he is rated will be at least a 2 year player for US!!!Dylan would likely be RU's first "official" one-and-doner.
My definition of "official": commits to RU, plays one season on the banks, then becomes a first-round NBA draft pick.
We almost had Tim Thomas.Dylan would likely be RU's first "official" one-and-doner.

Be competitive? We are leading lol. Richie said in the podcast that off the record it's basically a lockHope we will be able to be competitive in this young man’s recruitment. Some of those schools will be able to offer more than just playing time and a full scholarship.
We will be successful without him, but you are downplaying the significance of a player like Dylan coming to RUPike has built the program from the ground up. Our continued success is not contingent on landing him. It would be nice, but I will lose zero sleep if he goes elsewhere.

Wait until another school thinks this kid is special enough to offer significant NIL opportunities that we can’t offer. That’s when it will become tough. $$$$ talks and well you know the rest. No NIL this kid is a lock to RU as his brother had a great time here and his family did as well.Be competitive? We are leading lol. He was coming here if wenzel closed the deal and gave tim’s handler a jobI spoke to him one time. I don't believe that was true.
He told me he didn't really consider RU seriously for one reason- he didn't want the pressure to be the only guy on the team.
I think it takes a certain personality to want to be "the guy". At the end of the day he was probably right. A great player no doubt, but he was more of a complimentary guy than a savior.
Fortunately, we are in a much better position now. A guy like Harper can come here and have some great pieces around him.
Great players want to play with great players. It's always that way in every sport.
Cliff has been the anomaly. In the past high recruits have not moved the program forward, in fact some have set it back. Pike isn't Eddie Jordan or Fred Hill Jr. (thankfully). We will be successful without him, but you are downplaying the significance of a player like Dylan coming to RU

When I look at this 3 year run the 5 most important guys (in no order)
1. Geo Baker
2. Ron Harper Jr (not highly though of when committed)
3. Myles Johnson
4. Jacob Young (a transfer)
5. Cliff
So many guys over the past 15 years that had 4+ stars that weren't net positives for the program and a few that, in my eyes, were net negatives.
Watching Jacob Young play a few defensive possessions at Oregon told me all I needed to know about our program. Rutgers players aren't allowed to go under screens. That may be simple, but it means everything.
Pike has done amazing and we don't need a roster of 5 stars... but if we want to compete for a national championship, we need to add a couple complete studs to go along with the Pike underrecruited gems. That's the next step. Dylan helps us get thereCliff has been the anomaly. In the past high recruits have not moved the program forward, in fact some have set it back. I’ll take your word about the ego. I am a bit prejudiced to thinking most/all 5 stars have egos. I know I’d probably have an ego if I was 17 and in their shoes. It has nothing to do with how highly ranked the recruits have been, it is what was around the rest of the roster.
The programs are built from players 5 through 10-11 on your roster.....the FHJ or other RU rosters, didn't have depth that was quality. We can't name the bench players on the Rosario/Echenique rosters, where the players assembled on Pikes rosters develop or are good enough to develop into being a starter.
Dylan Harper is a unique type of player, not because he's obviously talented.....but he is talented and plays without a ton of ego or something that other elite recruits carry with. He attracts other players at his level with the abilities to potentially convince them to join him here at RU.
Unlike the Tim Thomas, Lance Thomas sagas of years past, this is a different animal and different timing. There are players being developed all over the roster, where Harper can join a roster with pieces in place. He's not being asked to do what Geo, RHJ, Mathis, Myles Johnson, Caleb were asked to do.....and none of this rebuild gets off the ground, unless you get buy-in from a Mike Williams type of player, that was a holdover from the Eddie Jordan era.
RU has built a program and Dylan and Gavin Griffiths and others understand how we play.....and the RAC is electric and is a factor as well. You can star at RU and get the exposure.
That is the arguement going from 20s to 40s where we probably have been over the past 3 years to a level higher. You know my glass is half empty.Pike has done amazing and we don't need a roster of 5 stars... but if we want to compete for a national championship, we need to add a couple complete studs to go along with the Pike underrecruited gems. In some cases, families need money and thus nil becomes a major factor. But with a long time NBA player for a father, I think the need for cash isn't as strong for the Harpers as OT may be for some other kids. Not saying it cant play a role but I doubt its about the money.Wait until another school thinks this kid is special enough to offer significant NIL opportunities that we can’t offer. I hope you are right but I doubt it. Need or not money will always be a factor. If the decision is the kid’s and not his family and a school with a fanbase that donates to NIL comes and offers what kids of his caliber are getting don’t expect to win this battle. Would be awesome to get this kid here to run it with the kid from Connecticut. In some cases, families need money and thus nil becomes a major factor. It's amazing if any teenage 5 star doesn't have a huge ego. The Harper kids both seem to be grounded really solid people. Chalk that up to good parentingI’ll take your word about the ego.
