Curious if you have any interest in continuing your basketball playing on the professional level anywhere?

Geo could play professionally. But seems like his private instructional camps in Woodbridge are taking off . Maybe become a gym teacher/coach in Woodbridge and make 100k after 7 or 8 years .
Get that pension and benefits on the books and do the private stuff and camps for 30k plus off the books ! Not a bad gig.

With no wife or family yet, he could play simply for love of the game and not quite ready to give it up

Geo,
whatever you do in life, don't go the educational route or get involved with protecting the public !!!
Many on this board look down on those professions and imply those working as teachers or police officers are lazy & overpaid.
Some who proclaim you as a great guy, now, will turn on you like a rabid skunk and make like you're stealing their tax dollars doing a job that doesn't require any real skill and put you down for getting paid to do it..
Become a coach, this way you'll get love after every victory and hate mail after a loss.😛

I don't know about NJ, but here in Long Island (at least my school district) if you have 7-8 years of experience you are clearing $100K+ easily. Gym teacher is at $137K, but he's got about 20 years. All public records for eveyone to see online.

Looked up my kids elementary phys ed teachers salaries. One has 4-5 years experience ($68,900) and the other has 10 ($97,400). High school phys ed teacher 10 years experience (second career), also coaches 2 sports, 1 town over makes $112,600. So with benefits and pension payments they make considerably more than $100k

Or better yet become a cop. Make 200k with your pension and benefits . Then make some major money off duty and plus all the off the books camp money !
Then he can retire young enough in his early 40s to go play professionally overseas
Let me know where I can transfer to to make $200K in my pension 😂. I got 10 years on and won’t touch those numbers as Chief 😂.

Mrs. Robinson:
Isn't there something you want to tell me, Benjamin?
Benjamin:
Well, I want you to know how much I appreciate this.
Mrs. Robinson:
The room number, Benjamin. I think you ought to tell me that.
  • Benjamin: I’m going to marry Elaine Robinson.
  • Mr. Braddock: Don’t you think that idea is a little half-baked?
  • Benjamin: Oh no, Dad, it’s completely baked.

This has to be Northern NJ. I'm in 21 years and I haven't topped 6 figures yet.

If you factor in pension and benefits and off duty work , you will easily hit 200k.
in other words side jobs are to be counted as regular salary.
Then a lot of office workers who charge for what they do on their own outside of the company they work for will have what they make on the side turn into part of their regular salary when earnings are talked about and hours put in and different employeers won't be part of the count .
People working two jobs will have everything they make considered part of the salary they receive from their regular employer..Hours worked won't be a factor.

Salary, benefits and pension topping 200k a year seems a little far fetched, but probably is possible for the law enforcement personnel in high administrative positions. .
But not so much for the ones that put their lives on the line when patrolling the areas they are assigned and earn extra bucks moonlighting in security positions though organizations they belong to

Checked one high salaried ( just listed as police and firemen's retirement system in that salary link from Bayonne) and he's the Chief of Police.
So when you look at what they make be sure to find out what they do and not just think thy are regular members of the force making the big bucks.

Plenty of regular cops in certain areas making 200+ Depends on the area. I’m not condemning cops for making that money. Have many family members that are cops.
Was merely responding to ritgerskid that said Edison was nowhere near 200k. Looks like there are 50 Edison cops make 175+
