You can park by the racetrack for free. A bit of walk..couple of miles.

I used to park there when it was reserved for first responders. It's not a bad walk, although cross at the Route 18 intersection requires some care and awareness of drivers who don't care about pedestrians.

There is no game day parking there.
Yeah I thought that all got straighten out as people parked there last year. Even on the Rutgers website it says, Johnson Park parking is $40 but is weather dependent. Surely this 1 hr. storm didn't saturate Johnson Park enough where it would be unavailable on Saturday.

Definitely not, but last year I encountered a strange thing in Johnson Park- there was a storm churning out in the Atlantic that was causing high tides impacting the Raritan. Parts of the park were getting flooded on an otherwise beautiful day. Not super flooded, but enough that you had to go around or avoid certain areas.

Park on college ave campus (street parking or lots for $20) and grab the student bus over. Beats the stadium traffic every time.
I used to do this too, but since he's asking what time the lot opens it sounds like he's looking to tailgate. Anyway, OP, your best bet would probably be to call the ticket office and ask. Then I would also call the Middlesex parks dept. and ask them to see if they both give you the same answer. You might as well call the people in charge of this stuff instead of relying on people here.

Welp that's annoying. The weekly gameday guide email says the lots will open at 2, but I'm not sure if that applies to Johnson Park or not. I once got to Johnson Park before the lot opened, and I just parked in the nearby lot inside the park and there were others who did that as well. I'm pretty sure that lot closes when the sun sets though, so we did have to move to the regular paid lot once it opened.

I spoke to both on the phone today:
Middlesex County:”Rutgers manages the Parking at Johnson Park on Game Day”
Rutgers Ticket Office : “We don’t manage that particular lot ..contact Middlesex County”
WTF… another Rutgers cluster.

Just go …per website should be a go.

$40….good grief. And they wonder why they can’t come close to a sell out. I remember when they raised the parking at the RAC from 2 or 3 dollars to 5. This was around 2002/03. I said to myself you’re not happy with my 2 or 3 bucks now u get nothing (from me). Proceeded to park over in the Nichols apartments for free and walk the 20 minutes or so

Wonder if you can still park over in Nichols for free. Doubt it. We’re big time now

Believe that means you can’t park for free in Johnson Park to attend football games. Must pay at the entrance near Landing Lane.

Parking in Johnson Park across from the stadium is certainly back, weather pending - was open for Wagner. I did notice that in lots closer to the tennis courts, etc. there are now signs that explicitly state "No gameday parking for Rutgers Football", no idea if they were there last year but the park does normally close at dusk.

Is Johnson Park open for parking this football season? If so, what are they charging?

If you park in Brunswick take the Lynch bridge over it puts yo right in the yellow lot and your not part of the mosh pit trying to cross river road tieng up traffic. A lot easier. And shorter
