I have been playing attention. They made the rules when they thought they were at 48. Obviously they are beyond that now. You didn't see the word cut anywhere from the lineup change announcement. Sure those left out are still getting paid.
The first players who signed did it under just 8 this near and next. Don't know why they are stuck on just 48 at a time. They could easily change but choose not too. New lineup is better just by adding Cam.

Most of these guys that were “cut” signed contracts Tourny to Tourny, from what I heard. No one was cut

Article from golf digest is just 10 days old.

18 three somes is 54. That’s the new number and they are over it now.

Incorrect. Named for 54 players, 18 holes x 3 players for the shotgun start. And 3 rounds of golf is 54 holes.

The score of 54 has been considered forever the perfect score. Never heard anyone talk about a 54 hole tournament being a big thing and certainly the excitement of 54 players was never discussed. Norman never talks about 54 players which means @T2Kplus10 missed the gimme putt . Ratfarts

Liv is 48 players / 12 teams of 4 players. Just like any other team (ex. NFL, MBL, NBA, NHL, etc.) sport there will be bench players (in case there are injuries or someone can't play). They still get paid. $$$

Caught more of the broadcast today from Boston. Again, it's certainly different and I get that some guys are gonna like the atmosphere - music, etc. But there's also a weird vibe of "trying too hard" to be different from them. Norman parachuted in at the start. He then announced golfers can wear shorts starting with the 2nd round tomorrow.

I think it's certainly unique but you wonder if they go too far and this thing looks like a group at a muni track driving carts all over the place, tunes blaring from speakers attached to the bags, etc. There will certainly be a crowd for that, but if they are pushing for a TV deal, you wonder if most of the major networks will be like, "this is just weird".

I'll keep watching when I get the chance.

I enjoyed the telecast today as well. I agree it seems like they are trying too hard. It’s still a work in progress so I expect them to try a bunch of different things until it clicks.

For the record, I didn't really enjoy it. It was just weird to me. I tune in more due to curiosity than anything else. Not because I like the product.

But like you said, as they do it more it should get better. I just wonder if they will ever be able to get a network deal. I would think they'd have to overhaul the way they are doing it now and probably pluck a few more top players.

Don’t be afraid to admit you liked it! 😃. If you are a golf fan you should like the differences and team concept. Brings a little of that college rah rah to the event. Just appreciate the differences. It’s not supposed to be the same.

Plus the quality was much better yesterday.

The team concept isn't grabbing me because it's nothing like a college event or even a Ryder Cup/Walker Cup event. Frankly, it seems kind of fake to me.

Maybe I am just an old school type fan with golf. Just line them up, play your rounds, winner takes all. I don't need the team concept stuff, etc.

Phil made the right call for Phil. Guess this tournament is Friday - Sunday. Phil is 41 out of 48 and only 15 shots back after two rounds.

Not true. Sign for $100m, but that is paid out over 3 years. If a players wins the points championship and does well in the events, he can exceeded the annual contract payment with performance.

Win or lose, the money will be there for 3 years.
I understand that DeChambeau was signed for $125 million on a a four-and-a-half-year deal with the LIV and that means he is making, at minimum, $27.8 million for 4 and 1/2 years he's committed to the LIV tour
Didn't Phil get around $200 mil to join??
Did Johnson sign for $150 mil, was that a 3 year deal?
$50 Mil a year makes touring easy , win or lose.

The LIV is here to stay.
The money behind it will make sure it succeeds and no matter what the PGA does to try and make it fail.
People, who follow golf, really don't care about what the people behind LIV have done and will not ignore the LIV, like those claiming sports-wash want them to do,.as long as big names join the LIV.
The Saudis have the funds to wait out the PGA and as time goes by that money will bring in more top PGA players forcing the PGA to find Monty Hall and Make A Deal

Today was about the competition level. It was great and DJ wanted the win. The money is just a bonus.

I think we've reached flatline status for the time being. There's nothing holding back more PGA players, at least the top ones, from jumping now. The season is over. Cam Smith and Neimann waited until the Tour Champ was over and then jumped. This seems to be it for now (maybe Matsuyama in early 2023?). I wonder now if these two tours will just plug along now as currently constructed until a couple of big issues get resolved:

- OGWR points
- The anti-trust suit (but that appears to be not until late 2023 at the earliest)
- If the majors make any moves to ban players

At some point, as the COO of LIV admitted this, LIV has to find a network deal of some sort. Streaming on their website and YouTube isn't getting them near the viewership they clearly want. They've been talking to everyone to get a deal and no rael bites yet but I read one article that thinks the logical choice is Fox, for obvious reasons.

Not an accurate statement. I follow golf, as do many people that I know, and the majority have vowed to turn away from anything to do with LIV, based on their source of funding and abysmal track record.
