For those watching Summer League for the first time - the first rule of Summer League is wildly overreact to every single game.

For example - it's already been decided by everyone that the Kings are smarter than all for taking Murray at #4 and the Magic blew it by not taking Chet at #1.

Ron is also tied for 3rd youngest. I was surprised since the comments about him being on the older side of the draft.

The draft population is very different from the Summer League population.
For example - the draft is only 60 picks (30 priority 1st round picks).
Just about every Summer League team carries the max of 15 guys - over 400 guys.

SL is made up of mostly 1st, 2nd year and G-League guys. It's a lot of players that have minimal at best chances of making an NBA roster.
Hence my joke above about "overreacting" to Summer League stars.

Elite 2nd year players usually don't even play in SL either.
For example, Scottie Barnes isn't playing for Toronto. In fact, none of the top 5 picks in 2021 are playing.

that does not provide much info. What do you mean? Are you watching him? What is he doing or not doing ?
Taking up space. No one looks at him on offense and he looks slow on D.

watched for a quarter. He played a lot while tacko fall played only 2 minutes. He looked way worse

This is a game I need to watch. I recorded them, just have not watched yet.

You should definitely watch this game. Ron had a very strong game, despite some shooting issues. His ball-handling surprised me at just how good it was. He led a couple of breaks and showed some other ball skills. He was excellent on defense and rebounding. The team isoed him on a smaller player a couple of times and he got off good short jumpers, even though they missed. Watch the post-game as well. Some interesting other things:

1) Jimmy Jackson (former Ohio State and pro) was the color commentator and has known the Harper family for a long time. He said that Ron Sr. introduced him to cigar smoking. Also, Ron Jr. got a 3pt shot blocked and Jackson said that Ron needed to raise his release point to avoid getting blocked. Jackson said that it wouldn't be hard to do. Btw, after Ron's shot was blocked, he hustled back down court and blocked the layup of the guy who blocked him.

2) Eugene O came up to Ron after the game, hugged him, and they seemed to have a very friendly chat.

3) Ron and a teammate were interviewed post-game as stars of the game. It's clear that the team is close and that they all like and respect Ron.

There were some comments at the beginning of summer league about how the coaches loved how Ron was doing in practice. I didn't see it so much until this game. Jackson said during the game that Ron Sr. thinks that Jr. will have a ten year career in the NBA and based on this game, I wouldn't be shocked if that happens. Yes, I know that it's summer league only.

If he can shoot he has a path at a NBA career. Throughout his career at RU he has been incredibly streaky. His streaks, good and bad, lasted months.

I honestly don’t know if he is a good enough shooter at this level. Raising a release point on a shot is way easier said than done!!!!

Agree with Ray above. I am always positive about all of our players but I also always said RHJ is our best player because he can do it all. He can bang with big guys and shoot 3’s with the guards. He rebounds, he blocks shots he had a great handle. He always made it look easy too. He went up against the best every night in a conference that had many players drafted or signed.
