I think this has been answered numerous times, he's pursuing a professional career and is no longer with the program. I don't think there's a formal press conference on this when it happens, it's just a rare situation where a kid who didn't make the rotation, suddenly decides to not transfer and just skips to shoot for the next level of basketball.

It's one thing if it's Corey Sanders after 3 years of production and starting at RU and its another when its an American based HS underclassmen.

If Jones was originally from Greece or Spain and was a kid heading back home to play professionally in his home country, no one would blink. There's really no pattern of kids doing this unless it's the recent access to an Overtime Elite etc. It seems like Jones probably just felt like an Overtime Elite path may be better suited for him.....no wasting time having to take classes, etc.

Hawk, can you fill us in with what exactly OE is? Thanks

Is he still with the team?

The deadline to remove from the draft is 6/1.

If Jones has no intention of returning to the NCAA and has decided to play pro ball, there’s not much need for him to do so. That’s the next deadline when dominos will start to fall into place.

There will likely be a bunch of guys saying I’m coming back to NCAA and there will be a flurry of recruiting and NIL activity between their current schools and transfer activity.

OK, sorry for posting. Saw it around 3AM on facebook, figured I would check it out here. Didn't see it on board 1st page.

Reminds me of that tune by The Allman Brothers Band....."Can't Lose What You Never Had".

The article fails to give the most pertinent information — who gets credit for advising Jaden Jones?

Looks like he was never meant for college ball…or perhaps just never meant for college. Sh*t happens.

"Exactly who are you and can you spell your name for me?" - Rothstein immediately before releasing that tweet.
Rothstein was very high on Jones preseason and expected him to be a double digit scorer for RU iirc

College probably just wasn’t for him, which is fine. I don’t think he’s making some terrible blunder or anything, just needs a different type of setting to develop.

I don't think he ever plays a minute here if Overtime Elite was available to him when he left DasCHE HS in Dec 2020 and enrolls here in Jan 2021. Overtime Elite was announced in March 2021 for the fall of 2021-22. He probably explored the option if he could still be eligible for OE and was denied, so he committed to being here for exactly a year. His first appearance was February 10, 2021 vs Iowa, his last appearance February 5, 2022 vs Michigan St blowout, he wasn't getting in vs Ohio St the way the game played out. His last meaningful minutes a non conference 17 min vs CCSU where he shot 2-7, 3pt 1-6 and played very disengaged.

I guess things like books, classes, coaches, teammates, and competition were big distractions holding him back from playing meaningful minutes. He should ask the Balls for the coaches contact info from that team in Europe they played on.
