He will be offered by just about everyone. He's on a path to be one of the top players in his class

If RHJ gets drafted I think it helps our chances with Dylan. Shows RU can send recent players to the NBA.

I wonder if he becomes a one-and-done candidate and if that effects our recruiting of him.

Some here have suggested we should shy away from such players.

Shy away from investing effort in any player who is not interested. All in for anyone you really want if they at interested. One and done is not a fundamental variable.
Kinda like you don’t go for the hottest girl at the bar …stay in your lane rutgers

How would you rate rutgers art skills last 40 years ?
Before three years ago, a “C”. Now we have three straight trips to the NCAAs, a real coach, a real AD, we are a member of the best to third best conference depending on the year, every game is on National TV, we have a brand new practice facility, an expansion of The RAC on the way, and we now recruit on a National scale. Plus that $75 million a year puts us in a whole new universe in college athletics.

I wish you graded some of my high school tests …C”? No it was an “F”!! No way to sugarcoat it.
But I do agree pike has done great job and lots of things going for us . Should be a B- minimum from now on

Ja being in the NBA helped Murray State recruit. @RU_SAM is right. If RHJ gets drafted I think it helps Rutgers' chances with Dylan. It also helps with other recruits.

Kids want to get to the league. Rutgers needs to get guys into the league to help its brand become stronger with in-state prospects and outside of its region.

Getting guys to the league and having strong NIL opportunities for players is arguably more important in recruiting than winning a National Championship.

Nope. And being a season ticketholder since 1983, I have seen it all firsthand. Were they all NCAA and NIT berths? No, but the only F years were during Littlepage and Jordan. Those days were totally miserable for the players and the fans. Compared to them, Wenzel, Rice, Bannon, and Waters were Jay Wright. Fred Hill Jr. was in his own category lol.

There was nothing from 1983 to 2020!! Save for a billet buzzer beater and nit run ! We had some awful teams. Who was worse than us over that stretch besides northwestern ? We were the dregs of big time college basketball
Omg I can’t believe you would think otherwise . But the good thing is we have gotten over the hump and sky is the limit !!

We were in the NCAAs in 1983, 1989, and 1991. I never said anyone confused us with UCLA lol.

We didn’t play a tournament game in 30 years! We didn’t win one in almost 40 . It was awful basketball for years. Case closed . Now let’s just enjoy the pike years

Only the top 7 or 8 players are one and done candidates coming out of high school. DJ Wagner and Naas Cunningham are one and done candidates. Harper is nowhere near those guys.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Murray was a top 3 pick. Harper is on the bubble and if he gets drafted, it is late second round with an non-guaranteed contract, which is basically an invite to summer camp. That will not impact recruiting. I am not disrespecting Harper in any way and loved him as a player from Rutgers, but getting a late second round pick will not impact our recruiting.

I think you mean Morant. It's not comparing apples to oranges and here is why:

I'm talking about getting guys to the league. Not where or whether they were drafted.

The bottom line is that programs benefit, when it comes to recruiting, from having guys in the league. If a program has lottery pick(s), all the better. Late first round? Great. Second round? Good. UDFA? Cool.

Just have big pictures of your guys in the league on the walls of the basketball office. Hang banners in the practice facility that represent former players who are in the league. It doesn't matter that much to recruits how how former players of a school got to the league just that this school gets players to the league.

So, when recruits and their families are on campus getting a tour they can see that the program gets guys to the league.

I don't know how to explain it any better. If someone doesn't understand that getting guys to the NBA helps a program recruit I guess they just don't understand. 🤷🏾‍♂️

We are a now a competitive Big 10 program, and we should be able to sell a a recruit on that fact that if they have the physical attributes and skills we are a good platform to get to the NBA. RHJ’s ability to make it in the league has little to do with his time at Rutgers and is much more about whether he has the physical skills to play small forward and guard small forwards in the NBA.

Dylan is the real deal. I sure hope he comes to RU. He can continue the legacy that Ron has left at RU.

Our best chances with Dylan are if we can land another couple of elite athletes. No one wants to be a one-man show and savior. We should ask Michigan what it takes to land a Fab Five, updated for this NIL era.

No one coming to rutgers would be considered "'the savior" @Geo_Baker_1 and Ron amongst other have saved the program.

Kids coming in the future will be the ones to take us to new heights
