Agree. it made no sense to limit one of the best players in the league like that. I’m surprised Williams came back for his senior year for that garbage. On top of it, Painter had two of the biggest and best big men in the BIG along with a lottery pick and veterans all around them and couldn’t figure out how to beat St. Peter’s.Laughable 17 or so minutes for Williams. Knew it would eventually bite them in March.
Painter is a good coach but he is not elite. He has under achieved too many times and especially this year. Losing to ST Peter’s was a disgrace
Thought Edey and Williams should have played together and to see Painter start a waste like Sasha Stevonich had me questioning him.

Way too much logic and reason being used hereEdey played one less minute per game than Williams and was two years younger.
Yet, he averaged 2.5 more points, slightly more rebounds, double the blocks and shot over 10% better from the field and over 5% better from the line.
Edey was plenty useful.
And he was a foot and a half taller~~Edey played one less minute per game than Williams and was two years younger.

Edey is very coordinated. He's just big and slowEdey just looks very uncoordinated and unathletic. Smaller, quicker centers should be able to run rings around him
The coach actually said – both of his big men were better coming off the bench, but that one of them had to start.Edey had a height advantage over other Big Ten centers which is the reason he started most games.
It really doesn’t matter who starts. Williams saw just as much time and normally played in crunch time. Both players were very good. Great problem to have.I never understood why Painter opted to start Edey over Williams. It just seemed to me that Williams was the more polished player.
He played hockey most of his life. Pretty incredible to be that size on skates.Edey is very coordinated. He's just big and slow
probably because when Edey gets the right position he's basically unstoppable due to his size and skillsI never understood why Painter opted to start Edey over Williams. It just seemed to me that Williams was the more polished player.
Zedeno Chara is 6'9'' (and like 50 years old)He played hockey most of his life. Pretty incredible to be that size on skates.
Interesting considering that when their game was on the line at the RAC, Painter went to Williams on their final offensive play just before Ron's buzzer beater.I never understood why Painter opted to start Edey over Williams. It just seemed to me that Williams was the more polished player.
I think he just doesn’t like playing two gargantuan centers together and wanted to be sure Williams never had 2 fouls five minutes into any game…like we would often do with Myles. Therefore, he always had Williams at the end of a game. He subscribed to the “it’s not who starts, it’s who finishes” philosophy. Can’t says he’s wrong, but he also cheated Williams out of a lot of minutes this year.Interesting considering that when their game was on the line at the RAC, Painter went to Williams on their final offensive play just before Ron's buzzer beater.
Cliff will just have to add another highlight dunk to his reel
