Pike can't whiff on both Hammond and wright
He can. And this year’s team still be just fine. He’s going to get a scoring guard. Might be our 5th choice. Wright went to Colorado. Obviously he had reasons that couldn’t be overcome. You never know but Hammond might be the same or he won’t exactly fit with the rest of the team. Pike has this under control and this year going to be fun. Enjoy!

"this years team still be just fine" LOL. I want you to ask yourself a question. Outside of Cliff and Paul, if any of our other players hit the portal, how many would get anything more than a low major offer? We're a low major roster right now and then cliff and paul

pike doesn’t deserve any heat. He’s never been an ace recruiter.

He will deserve hear if we **** the bed next season..that is all
Pike went all in on Wright and Hammond so pretty sure he would also agree we needed to badly land at least one. If he didn’t he wouldn’t have locked in on them. He doesn’t deserve to be crushed but a little heat is fine. He’s a big boy so he can handle it.

Never said he couldn’t handle it. But I just don’t think any coach deserves heat unless on court performance stinks

haha coming into the year I thought we were likely a bubble team. After the beginning of the season I thought 4-16 in the big ten (honestly most thought 4-7 B1G wins after the beginning of the season whether they want to admit it or not).

But how can you deny how garbage the roster is at this very moment? it's horrific haha

It’s not great but if Caleb comes back (which is prob 50/50 as he never entered the transfer portal) they’ll have 3 potential all big ten players. I’ve seen worse at Rutgers. Hammond would be a game changer.

In theory you are correct but reality is that Rutgers needs scorers to replace Baker and Harper and potentially McConnell.Fans will have a rather good idea prior to the next season if the scoring issue has been resolved.

So is Purdue’s, Wisconsin’s, Iowa’s, and Ohio State’s rosters. It’s college basketball. You lose guys and now reload through transfer portal and player development

A big part of reloading through the transfer portal is landing good players out of it. Hammond is a good start but he can't be it.

By the way, Ohio State has the number 5 recruiting class in the country and is bringing in 4 top 100 players. Purdue has a top 25 class with a top 100 recruit.

The roster at this very moment is completely irrelevant. You're just using it to bash Pike bc it fits your agenda.

I wanted Hammond more anyway and it's looking good. Zero reason to bash Pike at this point. You just can't control yourself

It's not "garbage" - We have the top returning assist man in the league and one of the top returning Centers. No team with Paul and Cliff is "garbage."

That said, there is cause for concern AT THE PRESENT TIME. The CURRENT roster after those two is mostly role players, with an outside chance somebody like Hyatt, Mag or Reiber can improve enough to become a legit difference maker.

Regardless, if we don't land two impact players in the portal (one of whom needs to be a high volume scoring guard or wing), I do think that we are headed for a Bottom 7 (and possibly Bottom 4) finish in the Big Ten.

Exactly, but only a fool would be looking at a roster with 4 open scholarships and making declarative statements about the team

This is what the Pike haters are doing bc they don't like Pike. Pike has been nothing but successful so they need to try to pounce when they can.

Wait to see who we land, then hate on Pike if you don't like who we ultimately bring in. That would be fair and level headed.

For example, I was not impressed with Agee last year and said that bringing him in as the best we could do was concerning. That's fair criticism.

The anti Pikes are essentially criticizing non-existant players / empty scholarship spots at this point as failures

KYK may be the biggest instigator the Internet has ever seen. Clown takes on Twitter. Even worse takes here. There's no way he believes the crap he writes. Or does he?
Well, he's definitely biased that's for sure. He's already giving GS a soft landing spot for a 3-9/4-8 season next year, while Pike can do no right. For the record, I fully support both coaches and programs. I just find his bias comical at times.

I like both coaches and don't like people trying to compare different sports, but the football offense has been much much worse than the basketball offense.

In today's portal world it should also take leas time to turn a program around. The MSU coach brought in 20+ transfers his first year for example.

Yet it is perfectly fine if Schiano has a down year, but if Pike does its the end of the world

Clear bias at play

This is the same reporter who said that Jose Alvarado was going to commit to Rutgers isn't it?

I hear Alvarado is in the rotation for the Pelicans this year. Didn’t hear much about him at Georgia Tech but perhaps that is a function of his team not doing much?

did I ever judge pike years 1-3 or did I/we all give him a pass? The rebuild for football that GS inherited is harder than the rebuild for bball that pike inherited. By much? no. But when you have to flip a garbage roster of 85, it's harder than flipping a garbage roster of 10, right? Filling 53,000 is harder than filling 8,000, right?

Would I have been giving pike a soft landing if I said he'll probably go 6-14/7-13 in b1g play in year 3? Bad post petey

scangy, it's about trajectory. A huge part of trajectory is building a roster. In year 3 of a rebuild, you're still building. Football is so different than basketball too so it's silly. If you take over a program that's hot garbage in the trenches, you can't literally make kids older. The trenches largely aren't plug and play although GS has done a good job this off-season getting some plug and play. Takes a while to "get old" in the trenches. Roster of 85 vs 10 too. apples and orange.

With this said, if Schiano's roster looks like how pike's does going into year 7, I will be the loudest here and youre well aware of that. You've taken two positions here.

1) You must defend pike at every turn
2) Since it's unpopular to be critical of pike, youve taken the position to disagree with everything I say to play the likes game

Just a season ago Cliff was a role player too.

Pikes ability is to coach up not being an ace recruiter landing 5* recruits

I hate to break it to you guys but it's 2022. Centers don't mean much to your teams success. Peep nba draft boards from 1990 and 2021. It's a different game
