I hate to break it to you guys but it's 2022. Centers don't mean much to your teams success. Peep nba draft boards from 1990 and 2021. It's a different game
Hate to break it to you but the nba game is infinity different then college ball.
But then again we all know you haven’t been watching basketball since mid 2019. So I guess we shouldn’t expect you to know anything.

Respect them and very thankful of what they helped RU accomplish but lets be real when we talk about why they came here. Rutgers was their best offers. Ron had RU and Nebraska and SHU tried hopping in late. Geo had no other major offers, we were his only one.
That’s fine. But regardless - the kids Pike won with didn’t choose RU because we had great facilities, correct? and fast forwarding to today we don’t have amazing facilities compared to other BIG schools now. We have comparable facilities.

Also - I’m still not understanding your point. Are you trying to say that with better facilities guys like Fred Hill, Rice, etc. would’ve been stocked with 4/5 star talent and delivering consistent 20+ win seasons? Or that the coaches we had were terrible and basically anyone else would’ve been reeling in top talent and winning consistently? You do know that most major conference teams have nice facilities right?

haha you're trying to actually make an argument that it's easier to get 53,000 people to come see a game than 8. And yes, while weekend games and only being 6-7/yr vs 20 a year makes a difference, again 8K vs 53K. Numbers are your friend

I must say, it is enjoyable to whip you around daily tho haha

Bottom line is it’s not hard to fill an 8K RAC or a 53K Rutgers stadium if you have a competitor and fun team to watch. Pikiell has been filling the RAC for a few years and Schiano isn’t close to filling Rutgers stadium.

You trying to bring up attendance and saying it gives an advantage to Pikiell over Schiano, or that it’s sooo much harder to fill a 53K football stadium (tiny stadium) is f’in dumb. Like really dumb. The reason the RAC is full is because of Pikiell dummy.

You’re continuing to prove your bias against Pikiell and your hard on for Schiano.

It’s enjoyable to watch you be on an island in 75% of your takes. It’s okay, and good to be on an island every once in awhile, but not the large majority of time. You know somethings off with someone when that happens.

so you’re saying kids with no offers but Rutgers can be pretty good? Ok cool

Given the same resources and coaching at the same time? I simply disagree.

Mike Rice with a war chest to hire a quality staff (his wasn't horrible anyway), a practice facility and a new transfer portal? No doubt in my mind he has similar success in year 4 as pike
Mike Rice would pelt you in the head with basketballs like the little (and I emphasize little) pathetic b…th that you are.

You realize that RU doesn’t exist in a vacuum right? The teams around Rice back then didn’t have access to a transfer portal either. In year 3 - were we really paying Pike’s staff so much more on a relative basis than Rice’s (I don’t know the answer here - I’m asking)? What did the bottom feeders that we were splitting games with pay their staffs - DePaul, SJU, SHU, USF? Did we pay that much worse than them and in year 3 were we really paying our support staff more than NW, Minny, Nebraska, etc.?

Everyone knows David McCormack was the real mvp of the final four but you probably don’t know who that is either lol. Lonely and stupid is no way to go through life kiddo 😂
haha lets play your game. So the past 10 years they got most outstanding player of the tournament wrong as well? LOL. You're literally trying to argue centers are more valuable than guards!!! hahahaha

how come it's been 10 years since the most outstanding player of the tournament has been a center? How much the big ten, the conference that most utilizes bigs hasn't won a natty in decades? How come, cinderella seems to always be led by guards and not centers? It's always like there's something in common here. Why are you trying to guard that centers are more valuable than guards LOL

I think pike is a better coach than eddie jordan and fred hill jr. Gary Waters and Mike Rice would've had similar results to pike if they had the same resources. I actually think Mike Rice probably would've winded up better imo

They aren’t. We need to add guards. Probably more than one to increase the probability of at least one panning out. Happy now?

The point being made is that while having a great backcourt may be more important overall than having good front court players, it’s also true that it’s harder to improve the front court with portal players (far less of them). Fortunately, there’s an ample supply of good guards in the portal. It’s by far the easiest position to enhance with plug and play types.

You didn’t answer my question. Did Pike actually have better RELATIVE resources than these guys in his first 3 years? The teams RU played back then also had less than the ones we play now - that’s what I mean by relative BTW.

This is all public info you can look it up. Pikes year 1 of his contract paid him about 3X what rice's year 1 paid. Bigger assistant salary pool, an actual facility. IDK why you guys are so dead set on the narrative that pike doesn't have THAT much lol

we really gonna sit here and argue on conference? lol. The big east under rice was better than the big ten under pikiell. The Big East was now some dog **** conference? haha. Were we paying on par with USF? OF COURSE! LOL. There were 16 teams tho pop. Google it

I said relative. You can’t compare Pike to Rice straight up. The teams we competed with back then had far less to work with too. The question is how much less on a relative basis.

Not the conference - I don’t care which conference it is. I’m sure teams like SHU are spending more today on their staffs and facilities than they did back in the Rice era too. Salaries go up purely because of inflation. Everywhere. That’s what relative means.

That’s not what I’m doing at all, but changing the argument is the only way you can win, so this is your only play. You’re saying bigs are irrelevant and I easily dismissed that silly notion by bribing up 2 guys you never heard of. For someone who spends day and night arguing on social media apps you really are bad at this 😂

Also - it was an unbalanced schedule of 18 games vs. 20 and I believe we always played SJU and SHU (who were bad back then) twice.

But again - that’s not my point. What did Marquette, Providence and WVU pay their staffs compared to Rice’s budget for his? I honestly have no idea. Were they paying their staffs double what Rice paid his while Pike was paying his staff (in his first 3 seasons)on par with Iowa, Illinois and whoever else was in the middle of the pack?

theyre not totally irrelevant but they're not nearly important in 2022 as they were in the 1990's. Having a good big doesn't mean much these days. Does it help? Sure. Is it good to have your best player on your team be a big? NOPE. Very bad

That’s where I feel that IF Pike’s getting Caleb back we’re positioned pretty well to avoid a major drop off. We’re going to add some scoring guards even if not our 1st, 2nd or even 3-4th choice simply because there are so many of them in the portal and they all have to end up somewhere. it’s much easier to plug a sharp shooter portal kid into the mix than a small forward or wing bruiser type.

Because we already lost Ron, losing Caleb too would be devastating in my opinion unless we scored a big time stud like Yeboah. And again - there are just not that many of those out there. Especially guys that play good defense.

I would think it is much easier to get 8 K in the RAC.... the bb team could go on a bit of a winning streak and all of a sudden you can pack the place the next game

53,000 in the stadium would take bigger momentum, at THIS point in time..... If RU got off to a great start in the big 10 year one, football wise, we could have built off of the average attendance just before that, and maybe been near sellout...

once we struggled, lost a good percentage of season ticket holders, it becomes much more difficult to get back to full

This is the exact point. You have a major bias against Pikiell and the bball program but hardly ever criticize Schiano and football.

Hence you’re a major troll when it comes to bball, and you know it (and love it).

you do realize most outstanding player and most valuable player are different?

this is like arguing the offensive line isn’t valuable to a football team cause a linesman never won an mvp

It's also outside and for half the games it's cold. I don't mind the cold but some people do haha.

To sell out the football stadium for every home game we'd need the following to happen

1) be a top 25 team
2) playing a ranked opponent
3) weather would have to be good, if there's even rain in the forecast people don't go

^^^ That is alot harder to do than the bball task. Shouldn't be hard to recognize/admit. Weird to disagree imo

Our next true sell out likely isn't until 2024

We weren’t talking about a point in time, we were talking about filling the RAC and Rutgers stadium from when Pikiell and Schiano took over the programs.

It’s basically a wash. If you put a competitive and entertaining product out there you will fill each by the next season or two.

Pikiell has achieved that. Schiano is still working towards it.

Kyk is saying Schiano is at a disadvantage because he has to fill a 53K stadium lol. 53K!

IDK how I have a bias against bball and pike. Do I criticize pike more than GS, hell yeah. GS is coming off year 2 of a major rebuild, pike coming off year 6. If GS is going 6-6/7-5 and recruiting is getting worse going into year 7 (6-6/7-5 is the equivalent of being a bubble team) then you know damn well you'll hear me criticizing schiano.

Admittedly I also believe bball has a higher ceiling than football. Because basketball is an easier job and we have so many built in advantages. I only started criticizing pike like 2 years ago? And the criticism has always been, I'd like to see him A) be better on offense B) recruit better. These things shouldn't be controversial or be considered being a "troll". Where you guys hate it most is my belief that what the program looks like going into year 7 isn't anything special and that pikes not the only one who could have gotten us on the bubble in year 6. It's okay to admit it
