using exceptions to prove a point is never very persuasive. just sayin'

he has neither elite athleticism or elite skills (e.g., he is a good 3 point shooter but hes not a sharp shooter).

again, I really hope I am wrong but I dont see it.
and for White Mamba, he was a 7 footer with elite shooting ability and solid all around skills and really smart. When he played for the Nets he was a solid player, and whenever he got opportunities to play with the super loaded Celtics roster, he was always solid as well. Might not have been uber athletic, but he was better than a lot of bench players around the league and worked his *** off throughout his career. He got his rep due to being pasty white, redheaded and freckled while being satisfied being a bench contributor. That's also why he lasted so long and absolutely demolishes all of the amateurs and semi-pros that dare to challenge him to one-on-one games nowadays.

We've discussed it before but #1 item is RHJ needs to change his shot mechanics.

It comes off very low.
He's going to be guarded by guys bigger and faster than him.
I could see it being difficult for him to get his shot off.

The question will be can he create his own shot against NBA defenders.
If not, then he's either a stand in the corner shooter or run around off screens to get open.

I get it but how many unicorns also flame out. Not mentally strong, never develop a shot, become one dimensional etc. lots of those out there. I get it that the probability is more with the unicorns but then I could be an nba scout. Doesn’t seem too hard. A good scout can see other intangibles. Not saying Ron is that, but I can see a lot of what he does well translates. Catch and shoot. Super quick release. Has a good bully ball game. Finish at the rim well. Is it inconsistent. Yeah but if your job becomes just basketball that will come.
He does not have a super quick release. His release is low and it’s slow.

his bully ball works at the college level - REALLY don’t think it will at the nba where players will be just as big as he is. You really think he is gonna body Lebron James (or similar athlete) down low. He’ll get eaten up trying to do that in the nba

I have no idea what you’re point is about unicorns flaming out. No idea. My point is that, with few exceptions, the nba is comprised almost entirely of guys who are amongst the greatest athletes in the world. Unless you have some particular skill you need to also be an althetic freak (a unicorn) to compete. He’s not that. AND he doesn’t have some particular skill (shooting) that sets him apart where he can find some niche.

BTN had an NBA draft expert on today noting B1G players who could be drafted. FWIW RHJ was not on the list.
Don't shoot the messenger. Just reporting what I saw.

I don't see NBA for him. Luv him, but the deficiencies are problematic for the next level.

Hard to change shot mechanics that drastically this far into his development. If RHJ makes it, it will likely have to be as a wing. I do believe he has the capabilities on offense as many NBA offenses now spread the floor beyond the arc and look to find the open man to shoot. I believe he has the physical strength and finishing ability - but ultimately think his biggest deficiency might be his lateral quickness on D to keep quicker wings (even average NBA wings) in front of him given the NBA's trending towards 3&D wing players.

RHJ will have a shot at playing in the league. His last name alone will get him in the door of a few NBA franchises.

I'm sure he'll get a shot but I'm not sure how much his name really moves the needle.
He did declare last year with the same name and didn't even get invited to the Combine or G-League Elite Camp.
