I have a long layover in Munich this Saturday. ~10 hours. Any recommendations on things to do? Places to eat?
Dachau. The first Nazi camp. We went expecting to spend the morning and we wound up spending most of the day there.I have a long layover in Munich this Saturday. ~10 hours. Any recommendations on things to do? Places to eat?

if its a sunny warm day, probably see some topless chicks getting some sun in the park on your way for a beer... but everyone mentioning English Garden is probably right.. been decades since I have been there... but it is classic.. oh, the "hot dog" stands serving white brats were pretty good.English Garden. Have some beers, pretzels, and a pig knuckle.
I was there right after college (summer backpacking across Europe). when I arrived in Munich I grabbed some lunch and headed to the park to get my bearings and walked smack into a naked coed game of frisbee. similar experience.. I saw topless sunbathers and a naked guy swimming in a fast-moving narrow channel of a brook that kinda looked like one of those tiny "lap pools". Just weird stuff.I was there right after college (summer backpacking across Europe). when I arrived in Munich I grabbed some lunch and headed to the park to get my bearings and walked smack into a naked coed game of frisbee. Visited there as well. Worth the trip.Dachau. The first Nazi camp. We went expecting to spend the morning and we wound up spending most of the day there.
An option and nice alternative to the Big 6 breweries is G. Schneider & Sohn. They have their Schneider Brauhaus/restaurant location just around the corner from Marienplatz in the city center, where they have Schneiderweisse, Aventinus, etc flowing of course. I'm getting thirsty just typing about it.We were in Munich one year when they were having Soccer championships at Munich stadium and you couldnt get into Hofbraehouse. So we have hacker-pschorr recommended to us. It was incredible and such a local experience.

too many variables to make sure that he can get back to the airport in time, imo.also.. not sure you can do it during a layover... but I did it as a day trip from Munchen... take train to Salzburg or Neuschwanstein.. you'd have to check train schedules to be sure you'd be able to pull it off.

You live in the hood. Slumming it in that tan thing.Hey! We're neighbors.. I'm in the tan number down the hill.. once "ran" from the white one to the tan one to try to beat the closing time. Was incredibly stupid to go cross-country down the side of that thing.. so much loose rock.. good boots saved the day

No, no. I've been in his house before he moved in. It's an amazing piece of real-estate. Among other great things, it has a vast underground complex including a submarine pen.You live in the hood. Slumming it in that tan thing.
To note, that property on mountain.. not a waterfront property at all.. was made by his crazy ancestor around 1900.. new money.. Mad King Ludwig. Mad Walt Disney copied it only 50 years later or so.No, no. I've been in his house before he moved in. It's an amazing piece of real-estate. All the real-estate on our side of the lake is prime real-estate. The other side of the lake is the wrong side of tracks, where properties are owned by folks who aren't all full-on billionaires. Naturally, we don't socialize with those people.
