It has nothing to do with who is the best. It is all about who you know. Bo is good friends with the National Assignor. Both are from IN.

The NCAA agrees with your comment.There are fouls on every possession.Refs impact games on what fouls are called ,when they are called during the game and if there is a inbalance in fouls called against one team.
I doubt Bo wouldn’t be officiating in a Final 4 game if he wasn’t evaluated as one of the best.
Bo Boroski being rated one of the best referees is about as damning a thing as can be said about the overall state of officiating in college basketball.
The national basketball coordinator is JD Collins, from IN. Prior to being the National guy, he did assignments in IN. Bo knows him and took over several of the responsibilities Collins gave up when he became the National guy in 2015. It is who you know, not how good you are. At least he won’t be doing the final. There are 5 referees in the original pool of 11 referees brought to New Orleans to officiate. Presumably no one gets two games so 5 referees are left.
