In listening to the TKR podcast with Hobbs where they finally ask him about the womens program and he states that he is waiting for CVS. to make a decision on whether or not she is returning this just reaffirms that CVS is basically holding Hobbs and Rutgers hostage and he can’t let her go/move her to her administrative position. This just very sad that this woman feels that she can do this while this program just drops further and further into the depths of oblivion
We are going to be lucky to field a team next year at this rate; A coaching move needed to be made as soon as the season ended and the longer this drags on the worse things will be for this program!!

If we are going to allow this nonsense to continue, we might as well bring back Bob Reasso. How much more money are we going to waste on her?She has made millions of dollars. Unless Stringer has bought thousands of acres of swampland, her daughter will be taken care of very well. End this now. Start looking at every Top 30 program and find head or assistant coaches that have proven they can recruit New Jersey , are willing to go out into the community to drum up interest in Rutgers to create some fans, and someone who knows how to speak with the media.

The uncertainty regarding Stringer status has gone on for too long.The womens basketball program is in disarray and the lack of decision making is a embarrassment .Holloway, Hobbs and Stringer need to meet and announce her retirement as head coach and whatever title they want to give her as a administrative advisor.

I am not CVS's biggest fan (nor Hobbs') but, there must be legalities by the dozen involved here that prevent activity on Rutgers' part. Also, while I cannot think of what they could be, there may be circumstances in Coach Stringer's life that would make all of us feel like heels for complaining about her (and we'll end up being proud of Rutgers for standing by her in a time of need). I sure do miss RU Women 's Basketball...at one point we were one of the few teams that could give UConn a game (when UConn was UConn!). Go RU!!

I believe that CVS needs to retire, but don't really know if she's holding RU hostage or not like some are claiming
Since I didn't hear the podcast I can only guess Hobbs is fine with waiting for Vivian to make her decision and he feels that due to the contract between Stringer and RU, any move by him could prove to be a hasty decision that hurts the program more than helping it.
If it a health issue Stringers is waiting for clearance from doctors to coach again and Hobbs doesn't wait for it and replaces Vivian, he might give RU a black eye for replacing a coach out because of a health issue that becomes a non factor .
If Stringer expresses she's coming back before cleared to , that puts Hobbs behind the 8 ball for allowing Stringer to come back despite it being against doctor's orders, even if he feels CVS coming back is the best move to make.
So the wait might be because of a health issue none of us know about, but those in charge of RU WBB are aware of.

( my personal opinion without any inside info)
CVS might be waiting for some medical issues to be resolved before deciding if she can come back as RU's WBB HC , even though she wants to it might not be a good move due to her present health status and she wants to be fully sure of the direction she will take reguarsing comeing back as HC or having to retire.

Unless I am mistaken, she can move to an administrative role for the same compensation. Given her medical leave last year, her LOA this year and her age she should make the move to administration if she really cares about the program. The longer this gets dragged out the likelihood of making a good hire diminishes should it be necessary. If she is not sure right now if she wants to/will be able to come back she needs to move upstairs for the good of RU WBB.

Sadly, UConn is still UConn. They had a tough year due to injuries, but everyone is back, and clicking on all cylinders. The only reason to say they are not UConn is to look at not winning championships, but they hold the on-going record for consecutive final fours, and some of the games they have lost in the final four over the last few years have been really, really close calls.

I cannot root for UConn. Probably the only team I haven't rooted for in any match-up, there are some games they play where I don't root either way because they are not the only team I really can't root for. The old "can't they both lose?". But I am very clear-eyed about how good they actually are. I think they are only vulnerable to NC State, South Carolina, Stanford and maybe Louisville, but I couldn't call them an underdog at this point.

I didn't mean we should pass the hat for UConn lol. Hard for me to think of anyone I like less than Geno! Though, I respect what he has been able to accomplish...very grudgingly. Love the "can't they both lose" comment. I use that whenever UConn and Notre Dame play each other in ANYTHING!

Sounds like ( my interpretation of what Hobbs' said) it's an issue the RU HR department needs to handle and Hobbs did say he would like Stringer back, but right now everything is up in the air , which isn't to his liking.

MadHat of course he is going to say he wants her back he can't say anything else because as we have discussed he can't let her go and it is time this program needs to move forward; she has done many great things for this program but there comes a time

Folks, this isn't hard. And certainly doesn't require these long winded explanations post after post, thread after thread. Read the room a little bit. Everyone wants her out. Simple as that. Doing so is and will always be the problem. She deserves nothing more from Hobbs or this University. She's been handsomly paid a tremendous salary and benefits package rightfully so. Now, it's time for all of us to move on. In the mean time, we're looking at another mediocre season at best. This program is dead in the water and has been for years. A few diehards on here like to play pretend but sometimes change is tough to swallow. They like to point to a few token NCAA tourney appearances where we were 1 and done as some great accomplishment. Look beyond that. The program is in a death spin.

The ball is entirely on HER court…we (Rutgers via Hobbs) gave her an extension and now we (Rutgers) is at the whim of CVS. She’s done nothing to merit being fired and is in control.

She will leave when she wants or when her term expires. We (Rutgers) made this bed and now we must sleep on it.

Sucks for the program. This once briefly elite program has been left behind.

And so Rutgers should just “buy out” her contract . Bite the bullet and move on. There is no clause in her contract that stipulates she can’t be fired. If there is then it would be a first. It would cause some negative harsh media and liberal criticism due to the fact she is a woman, a black woman and a has a HOF title. Tough decision for Rutgers but Hobb’s should shat or get off the pot.

What would / should she be fired for? She’s done nothing wrong, unethical or felonious. It was Rutgers that crafted the contract and both parties signed it. Considering she’s now a spokesperson of TIAAs “retire inequality” campaign can you imagine the ****** optics of not only firing said person, but a HOF coach? RU is up the proverbial creek without a paddle…

You said end this now but don't say exactly how. It was clear listening to Hobbs his hands are legally tied.

I felt that too and believe it's RU's HR department he blames for the lack of clarification on what can be done and his ability to let the public know what's going on.
I didn't feel he was blaming Stringer for what's (not) happening, just gave me the feeling he's not happy with the cone of silence around what's going on .

I'll defend CVS' right to come back, but also feel it's not something I want to see and I thinks she didn't move to an administrative position , then tale her LOA,, because she doesn't want to retire from coaching.
If she moved to an administrative position and then took LOA, Hobbs might have had the ability to replace her permanently as RU's HC without her being able to challenge the move

You can terminate her by moving on in a different direction. If you read what I said buyout her final years. Call it a changing to a different direction. If she is paid in full it doesn’t matter . The contract only states that she would be compensated in full. But you can let her go.

Hobb’s doesn’t want to terminate her contract based upon her coaching history , her being a minority woman who still cares for an adult child and the negative media backlash. Contracts are mean’t to be broken by either party. Where are you seeing Rutgers can’t terminate the contract at full compensation ? I’m not a lawyer but saying “ his” hands are tied means Holloway has already told him what the party line will be with Stringer.

Sitting out one year is one thing, I dont think even Hobbs would go stand for more…regardless, the program is moribund and damaged and far far far from the time when it mattered most.

Given that covid is:
1. Endemic
2. Likely to spike again, regardless how weak *** it may be
3. Likely to cause overreactions in the future

she could play that card for the remainder of her contract.

That was the original/ original explanation given. This continuing absence is due to something other than protecting herself or her daughter against covid infection. Guarantee Hobb’s ( who has done a very good job I feel ) has been directed by the hierarchy of Rutgers. That being said a change needs to be made… plain and simple. If you don’t the you get what you deserve.

And might give Hobbs an out to permanently replace her because she's not healthy enough in the current health environment to coach.
Baying her out or moving her to administrative duties , if she doesn't accept an administrative role in the RU Athletic Department
