Per the NCAA Rutgers was ahead of Indiana and Notre Dame in the pecking order.
By that metric it should be Va tech and Notre Dame in the play in game. If they did not want 2 acc teams then It should be Indiana. The committee loses all credibility when they don’t follow their own rules.
VaTech won the conference tournament, so they got the ACC autobid. Can’t put the autobid in the First Four.By that metric it should be Va tech and Notre Dame in the play in game. VTech couldn’t be in the play in game. Had VTech and Davidson lost, it appears we would’ve avoided the play in game.
VaTech won the conference tournament, so they got the ACC autobid. Can’t put the autobid in the First Four.
You have the absolute worst take on the NCAA tournament.Thanks. Was looking for this.
So it's a tournament of the best 47 teams in the country....and then 21 teams that don't deserve to be there.
Great system.
Yes . And no it’s notIs this formally documented somewhere?
It might be the worst rule in sports.
Enough of these posts please.Thanks. Was looking for this.

How does Bryant get the play in game then?VaTech won the conference tournament, so they got the ACC autobid. Can’t put the autobid in the First Four.
Not true. Then why is Bryant in the play in game? It is a normal occurrence to have conference champions in this game. It’s a perfect spot for Va Tech because they would not be an at largeI would assume it's some absurd rule that the 1st round has to be "at large" teams.
Really ? I can’t stand it when people don’t know the rules that have existed for yearsHow does Bryant get the play in game then?
Stop ! You really don’t know the rules that have existed for years ? Idiotic !Not true. Then why is Bryant in the play in game? It is a normal occurrence to have conference champions in this game. It’s a perfect spot for Va Tech because they would not be an at large
Tell that to Bryant and all the teams that get the autobif every year that find themselves in this game. The play in was originally created for this specific thing for teams that steal a bid by winning a conference tournament or had their bid stolen via the same process.VaTech won the conference tournament, so they got the ACC autobid. Can’t put the autobid in the First Four.
No I know the rules and why this game was created. Sounds like you have no clue.Stop ! You really don’t know the rules that have existed for years ? Idiotic !
Omg man . You are misinformed.Tell that to Bryant and all the teams that get the autobif every year that find themselves in this game. The play in was originally created for this specific thing for teams that steal a bid by winning a conference tournament or had their bid stolen via the same process.

One of the play ins is for the 12 seed. The first 4 is composed of the 4 lowest seeded automatic qualifiers and the 4 lowest seeded at large teams. The 4 lowest AQs play for 16 seeds and the 4 at large play for 11 seeds. That's the rule
You have many of these posts but never share your enlightenment. Please share.Omg man . You are misinformed.
I think wrong time and place to debate the rule. You have all year for it . Tonight is not the night.Like the Halo rule - that has existed for years?
I believe the majority of posts in that thread were "I don't care if the rule has existed for years. It's a dumb rule and should be changed."
Yes . And no it’s not
Good catch. I corrected it.One of the play ins is for the 12 seed.
No the play in game was not originally created for this situation . It was originally created for the 2 last 16 seeds when the number of AQ’s increased to 31 . Later on the play in games were added to with 3 more gamesTell that to Bryant and all the teams that get the autobif every year that find themselves in this game. The play in was originally created for this specific thing for teams that steal a bid by winning a conference tournament or had their bid stolen via the same process.
It was created be cause low level AQ conferences were stealing at large bids from power conferences. Then it was expanded an additional play in games because random conference champions won in a 1 bid/2bid league. No the play in game was not originally created for this situation . It was originally created for the 2 last 16 seeds when the number of AQ’s increased to 31 . Later on the play in games were added to with 3 more games
This needs to be pinned on this board . Good postThe first 4 is composed of the 4 lowest seeded automatic qualifiers and the 4 lowest seeded at large teams. The 4 lowest AQs play for 16 seeds and the 4 at large play for 11 and 12 seeds. That's the rule
So how was my comment wrong above “By that metric it should be Va tech and Notre Dame in the play in game. If they did not want 2 acc teams then It should be Indiana. The committee loses all credibility when they don’t follow their own rules.”This needs to be pinned on this board . Good post
It’s one thing to not know the rules and that’s fine . But a lot of people going crazy and not knowing the rules
Because Va tech was an auto qualifier and can’t be in the last 4 at large bid games. By ruleSo how was my comment wrong above “By that metric it should be Va tech and Notre Dame in the play in game. If they did not want 2 acc teams then It should be Indiana. The committee loses all credibility when they don’t follow their own rules.”
pretty much exactly what I said?
Thanks for answering and *not* being a dick about it.The first 4 is composed of the 4 lowest seeded automatic qualifiers and the 4 lowest seeded at large teams. The 4 lowest AQs play for 16 seeds and the 4 at large play for 11 and 12 seeds. That's the rule
Then it should be Indiana and Notre Dame. Was my original point they favored the ACC over the B1G.Because Va tech was an auto qualifier and can’t be in the last 4 at large bid games. By rule
Indiana and Notre dame for what ?Then it should be Indiana and Notre Dame. Was my original point they favored the ACC over the B1G.
By seeding it would be Wyoming -ND and Rutgers-Indiana. They split up the two teams from the same conference, that’s all. Then it should be Indiana and Notre Dame. Was my original point they favored the ACC over the B1G.
Indiana and Notre dame for what ?
I apologize. I didn’t realize Indiana was in the same boat. I had my RU blinders on.I thought they skipped over Indiana.By seeding it would be Wyoming -ND and Rutgers-Indiana. They split up the two teams from the same conference, that’s all.
