This is really huge for his development. Other defenders will feel like a vacation after dealing with Caleb. We will likely see the dividends next year.
Still expecting big things from Jones. If he can step up into a scoring role next season the outlook for the team is much better than some think

Hopefully Caleb teaches them a few things about defense
So hopefully we can dismiss any rumors that Jaden won’t be wearing scarlet next year.

Jaden Jones can put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket, he actually has a very good handle, he just hasn't had enough minutes to show that aspect of his game. His bread and butter is his jump shot though. Like anybody else, his ability to drive is enhanced when he is hitting his jumper. He is very much a rhythm shooter, and if you watch his videos from high school you can see he has a very rhythmic, easy, stroke. A lot of really good shooters coming out of high school are the same.
The problem many of these good shooters have when they get to college is they soon learn they have to move the speed they take their shots up a beat or two. The players they are going against are bigger and quicker and will be on them if they don't get their shot off quicker. This fouls up their rhythm and, of course, fouls up their shot. Watch his HS videos, and then watch some video from his time at RU so far. He is releasing way faster, because he has to, and this takes him out of his rhythm that he has been used to for the last six years or so.
This isn't rocket science, Pike, the staff, and Jaden himself are well aware and I'm quite sure Jaden has been working on it in practice and on his own all this season. Then throw in that he is learning an intense style of defense at the same time and he is going through quite an adjustment period. This is a good kid, and a hard worker. I am betting on him to look like a different player next year. He will have a huge game at some point, his confidence level will shoot up, and when it does...look out!

Strength and conditioning in this coming offseason will be huge for Jaden.
Sound observation South. Good to see Pop has a healthy read on things. I think Jaden can be a great scorer for us. I hope he hasn't gotten too discouraged and remains patient and continues to work and improve and I think he is going to be a good one for us.
On point with everything you stated. I would just add that Jaden probably understands that no matter how good you are offensively in Coach P’s system you’re only as good as the defense you bring to the court. If Jaden raises his defense to the level of his offense, watch out.

Jaden put on 23 lbs. between the time he arrived on campus and the start of this season. No reason to believe he won't continue to hit the weight room.
I know our current starters weren't great in the beginning of the season, but our season turned when Pike reduced Hyatt's role and took Agee and Jones out of the rotation (and added Miller to the mix).
We need massive improvement from both Hyatt and Jones defensively. Next year I don't think we will be able to afford the start we had last year. Pike won't have the luxury of seeing if Hyatt and Jones will work in the rotation.

IMO this is way too preliminary. It will depend on who's returning, who comes in from the portal and how much improvement there is with current players from year to year.
Absolutely. I expect that the roster will have a few new guys or some guys will return that we dont expect.
I really really hope he stays because he is like scorer #1 next year unless some portal magic happens. Paul will have the ball in his hands, but if he can dish to Jaden and let him play off ball, hopefully he can thrive.
If his dad is looking at the big picture and is still on board given his reduced role I don't think we need to worry. He wouldn't be posting if Jaden was so unhappy here. Hoping he becomes a star next season.

Yeah, and he can take whatever benefit he gained and play somewhere else. Your reading way too much into this. It’s about Caleb not Rutgers.
True. But if it is anything it’s far more likely a slightly good sign than a bad sign.
I think his main thing keeping him off the court was strength. Due to his length he’d be tasked with guarding bigger more experienced guys.

It shouldn't shock anyone if Jones averages double figures next year
How can u say that? I certainly haven’t seen enough of him to say he will score on a regular basis. I certainly hope he does score in double figures but given the very small sample size, I think it’s a reach at this point.
