we know the conf was bad. Do we know why? Curious if the grind of this tough conf wears the teams down. Curious if the whistle is different. Thoughts?

Whistle is different, B1G old school in play, not as athletic as other teams would be my main reasons. I think we will have more teams make the sweet 16 this year than last year, but have a hard time seeing a final four team in the conference this year. None are good enough defensively and are prone to droughts.

You need future NBA players for the most part to advance deep in March. BIG didn't have that last year despite the hype but has quite a few guys (Ivey for one) this year. It is why I think we will overperform as a league this year.

I think ill and Purdue have legit shots. But agree. They need to play better D.

Being locked up in Indianapolis an extra week also did not help Big Ten teams..

Conference is generally overrated (not bad) because of the even play throughout the middle but it’s not top heavy from a national perspective.

Alrhough I think last year illinois really let the conference down think they were the real deal. This year could be similar

Unfortunately, I expect a similar fate this year. The B1G teams beat the crap out of each other (I wish they would go back to 18 games..or even 16). The BIG teams are generally more “old school”, complete with some lumbering big men. Last year, they struggled with some quicker teams in the tournament. The games also seem to be called tighter in the tournament, which is a big disadvantage.

Personally, I think Purdue is the only team with even a shot at the Final Four and they are about as old school as you can get…with two big men who split time, and two elite players in Ivy and Williams. However, their PG play is suspect and they really don’t play defense. As with most, their success will depend on matchups and the teams they draw.

I don't think the B1G is overrated... I just think the term "best" conference is a little misleading and perhaps not true. What I "DO" think the B1G conference is in bbball, year in amd year out now for several seasons, is the DEEPEST conference. We have the most teams that are above average to really good in my opinion, which is what makes it such a grind.

Now if you define the term best as deepest? Well then yes, it's the best, ha.
