So is consensus beat Penn state and we are in? With no work to do in big ten tourney?

So many possibilities, it’s easier to get left out than to be invited to the dance. Take care of business on Sunday and give the voters on the fence less of a reason to dismiss us… Penn St plays us tough and I expect it to be close, especially if Bigten suspends Paul for game… a loss and Yes need a win or 2 to feel safe

Been saying it since at least early January and am 100% on it still. 12-8 and we're locked, regardless of the B1G tourney. Just beat PSU and we're a 9/10 seed; win a few in the tourney and we could make it to 7/8.

In a heartbeat - good OTB article talking about the difficult path we have to 12-8 in the B1G (18-12 overall), which the author thinks locks us up for a berth, which I agree with. At 11-9 in the B1G we'd need 1-2 tourney wins, IMO.

Given that was a flagrant 2 that makes it reviewable for a suspension?

I get him getting tossed that seemed warranted, a suspension seems a bit much.

If we’re being totally honest, we’re probably in right now (if we lose out it’s 17-14, 11-9, that’s Dayton with our resume)

but being Rutgers fans and used to getting shafted by supposed third parties and committees, we probably have to win 1 more to lock it up without a doubt (18-13, 12-8) is a guarantee.

Like someone else said, depending on the bid stealers an extra W in the BTT might get us out of Dayton (the bottom 8 teams go to Dayton), but that’s a separate discussion. Beat PSU and punch the ticket to the big dance

Bottom 8 teams don’t go to Dayton.

We are IN. It's done. Don't listen to nonsense.
Hate to say, its not nonsense. It all depends on what happens in all the other games and during their Tournaments, that's the deal. Beat Ped St, and we feel good; win one in the Big Ten Tourney, and we may lock up a 10 seed, that's how crazy this could end up being.....

You first.

The lowest NET team to ever make the NCAA was 2019 St. John's with a 73. If we lose to PSU and then in the BiG our NET is will drop from 75 to the 85-90.
We broke the NET didn’t you hear. It is all over ESPN !!!!

But the premise of the thread is whether if we beat PSU we're in or not, regardless of how we do in the tourney, not what happens if we lose to PSU. It's simple: beat PSU and we're a lock; lose to PSU and we need one more win in the tourney to get in (maybe 2 if the bubble works out badly). Our NET will not matter with a 12-8 B1G record including 6 Q1 wins, with 2 of them on the road. And it's also possible our MSU and UM wins move back to Q1.

I think right now they're likely one of the first four byes or a bit better. And just for fun here's my, probably way off, guess on where they will finish based on each scenario.

  1. Penn State win is just to keep that seeding. Loss gets us to last four in or first four out.
  2. If they beat Penn State and only get one bye for the B1G tourny, 1 win keeps them at last four byes or better, first round loss gets them to last four in.
  3. If they lose to Penn State, 1 win gets them last four in, loss and they're out.
  4. If they get a double bye, means they beat Penn State and a first round loss is likely against a Quad 1 team and they keep the first four bye or better.
  5. If they get to the B1G semis then looking at a 8 or 9 seed (assuming 1 more Quad 1 win. 7 total)
  6. If they make B1G finals then 6 or 7 (assuming 2 more Quad 1 wins. 8 total)
  7. If they win the B1G then 4 or 5 (assuming 3 more Quad 1 wins. 9 total)

Wachtel said on twitter he has us in dayton even if we beat PSU. It's a close thing, for sure, unless we win another one in the BTT.

Lose 2 and were un Dayton but sweating it out on Selection Sunday. PSU win seals the deal and probably bumps us into the 1st round if we end up top-4 in the B1G standings

Considering Paul's slap was in reaction to being hit in the face (an UNCOMMON common foul) I think no suspension is warranted. While unwise, it is certainly understandable to fight back when attacked like that... even if you'll get a penalty.

That was not a basketball play, #0 striking Paul's face. It was a senior's frustrating foul given they just went down enough to lose on senior night and deny that senior an NCAA tourney in his career. He should have been booted.
