Simpson is a ballerrrrrr

Love the defensive quotes but it's a highlight reel so it's all offense.

He plays fast but under control which is great to see. Has some swag to his game. Beautiful looking FT stroke

It’s a big ask, but if Simpson can step into the Geo role, then we need one good portal pickup to replace Ron, which would give our starting 5 a chance to compete (assuming Caleb comes back).

Woolfolk replaces Agee. Reiber, Hyatt, Mag, and Miller are battle tested and will make even more positive contributions next season with further development. So our bench should be better.

Holy sh*t that dunk was insane. Almost defies the laws of physics for a guy his size, not to mention the coordination and athleticism required to pull it off successfully.

Looking forward to having Derek on the banks. He’ll be a crowd pleaser and a fan favorite for sure. And as long as he’s a willing defender and a hard worker, he’ll be a Pike favorite too.

Thanks for posting. How good is the team they are playing?

I believe Cherry Hill East is #2 in South Jersey behind Camden so they are very good.

My guess is they play good team ball (as opposed to being super athletic). I don’t think they’ve been a traditional power in South Jersey basketball from my memory.

They would probably struggle against top North Jersey teams (like many in South Jersey aside from Camden) because they don’t have the horses.

I went to pick up my kid from that high school game today (spectator) and as I am driving into the parking lot who do I see walking back to his car….?
Coach Pikiell.

I pull over and rolled down the window to say congrats on the season thus far and thank him for being at Rutgers. One-two minute chat but even with that short amount of time, you get the feeling that he is a good guy. I have met other coaches where the opposite was true.

Pikiell going to support a recruit in the state playoffs who has already signed his LOI speaks to what kind of guy he is. I don't know, maybe that's a common thing, but Pikiell could've been anywhere today and he chose to do this. Pretty cool.

Livestream of a big showdown in South Jersey.

Simpson and Lenape are currently taking on Cherry Hill East.

thats a nice HS game atmosphere.. around 1:10 after a score the visiting fans chant "who's your daddy".. then "we can't hear you" after some response...

Lenape lost a 49-47 heartbreaker to Marlboro in the state group 4 semifinal today.... Marlboro finally pulled ahead with less than 3 minutes to go in the game... Lenape was unable to score in the final 2:29 of the game, and missed their final 5 shots in the last 1:37 of the game, including 4 attempts by Derek Simpson. A video of the game is below. Simpson wears number 2, in black. (Unfortunately the screen size of this video is a little smaller than I'd prefer due to the maker's border around the image.)

Oof 2 points in the first half then 4 misses to end the game. Rough way to end his HS career. Gotta feel for the young man.

Simpson looks like a real player. I have high hopes for him
