I think that’s a great point. I have been wondering how long these guys can keep this up with the intensity needed to claw their way into the tournament. Having two days off here and there is not enough.

This is the second time this season this team laid An egg on the backside of the road trip . Geo in particular . At northwestern and at Michigan . Maybe too much fun on the road.

Remember they were on the road for 6 straight days. Who knows what was going on . Time to get home , take tomorrow off and get ready for Wisconsin

They are human, frustration is going to shine thru at times. Paul is a competitor, he wasn’t able to compete due to his own silly foul mistales, legit or not. The one he leaned over on Johna for a potential jump ball was a foul and done purely out of frustration on losing the ball

Mulcahy got the crap end of the stick on a few calls, had to sit out almost the whole first half.... and then he started having some miscues, and then his shot wasn't falling, all while expectations had been ratcheted up over the last few weeks..... everything spiraled on him.

I get being frustrated, but by the middle of the second half, his head just wasn't in a good place at all. Needs to shake this off and come in for Wisconsin clearheaded.

The second most frustrating thing on this board (the first being the complete inability to understand even the most basic probability and statistics concepts) is this notion put forward by people who have obviously never competed in anything at a high level that “winners” are never frustrated, or visibly angry, or look down, or smile while losing, etc, etc.

The biggest “body language” issue is that sometimes guys seem to get out of position bitching about uncalled fouls. Obviously it would be preferable not to do that.

The pouting wasn't a good look.

But I can totally understand the frustration - Mulcahy getting called for some cheap fouls in a game where nearly all contact was being let go, compounded by Michigan suddenly getting white hot from the field. Need to have resiliency in those situations - easier said than done, I know.

Need to shake this one off. Plenty more opportunity left this season.

You dont know me at all, nor what level of competitiveness I’ve had in my life, which is A LOT, trust and believe. You never let them see you sweat. Occasional frustration happens. Showing it and letting it AFFECT you is another. Check yourself.

Both PM and Geo body language was awful. Hopefully this motivates them and focuses them for Wisconsin- which is a must game.

I don’t know you but I can read your posts. They tell the story of someone who knows how to perform at being a competitor but not how to actually be one.

Paul was getting mauled on every drive.

Not worried about Paul's body language as it's usually good. He is typically very positive and engaged giving max effort

I've been involved in basketball in one way or another for about 55 years as a player, coach, admin and as a ref for nearly 40 of them and honest to God I don't know what's going to or not be called a foul anymore.
Today's loss, as about 99% of them, had nothing to do with the officials. However over the past 10 years or so the level of inconsistency by officials, even at the top levels, has gone through the roof.
Just my opinion via observation.

Again …you don’t know a damn thing about me. Those who DO… know. State high school bball Tournament final 4… I played with Roy Hinson…many others competitive events over the years.. but I won’t waste my time with you. Step off.

Cool. You would’ve been even better if your focused on your game instead of playing tough guy games so the opponent “didn’t see you sweat”.

But then again you are the kind of guy who posts “step off” on a message board which is the same kind of fake tough guy **** I am talking about so it’s good to see you haven’t grown.

but I’m supposed to be impressed because you were a marginally decent high school basketball player who lost in the semifinals after riding the coattails of a far more talented teammate? Lol. Maybe if you had more mental toughness you could’ve even made the finals big boy

No they weren’t. They flew home late Sunday and flew to Michigan late Tuesday.
The grind of 5 ranked teams and 3 road games left them looking slow and worn out. They never played their defense and missed a bunch of shots. Need to get their legs back. Michigan blocked 5 shots we blocked 0 and couldn’t get thru a screen all night.

Extremely poor….look like pouting crybabies. Winners don’t play like that. I’m hoping Paul gets over this kind of thing because it will send him right back to his funk.

And spare “the refs” stuff.
Couldn’t agree with you more. Control what you can control. Can’t do a thing about refs but you can totally control your emotions. Overcoming frustration once you get to a certain level is vastly more important than the physical aspect. Everyone is a good “athlete” at the D-1 level. PM let his emotions beat him tonight.

I was thinking same as with the NB & NW away games; they likely stay on the road between Perdue & tonight; this isn't the old BE where I guess the longest trips would be WV; Pitt; Cuse (also the IN trips). Looks like these trips take its toll. The post game at Perdue their players were talking about needing extra rest. So as SP said they were a step slower - and that is where our crowd creates extra energy - which will be needed Sat.

The grind and frustration of a long season is apparent with some of our posters in this thread 😉

no excuses for Wisky because they were just on road tonight and now have to fly over to NJ for a 2nd straight road game

I’ll be fine if I never have to read another thread about body language ever again.
right? refs screw them over repeatedly and they have to act cool with that? and this guy wants to talk about body language but not the calls tjat caused it?
