You know what the use of timeouts might change. Changing defensive sets, switching man to man assignments and some other things.
My point is that Martelli has proven he's been a better coach then Howard.
You don’t think he he hasn’t been a major part of those decisions all season?

Yea Martelli isn't installing some new system. He is probably doing a lot of the coaching, game planning, strategizing anyway already with Howard having no prior experience and being a complete 🤡

Diabete and Williams is a huge huge loss. They have almost no depth with size now. They won't be able to protect the rim and rebound. This is a massive advantage
They didn’t have Williams last game either. And they also didn’t have Johns who they will have for this one. Basically it’s a swap Johns for Diabate from last game (experienced bench player for core starter). Still a paper advantage but not as extreme as some are making out. It’s not like we’re playing Illinois without Kofi.

Martelli has been there all year long and contributing do you really think its going to make a difference that he is actually the head coach for the game....this is the same kind of things that RU fans laughably fell in when Fred Hill coached RU to a win over Marquette, rallying behind him as some sign he was a great coach.

Not having a head coach that has got you there and the routine being changed up is actually a negative for the most part. Michigan is not going to win or lose because of Phil Martelli

Lol no, stop. He has also been playing much better recently and had 28 2 games ago

For the glass half-full crowd -- Diabate's absence opens the door for more Johns, who put up 20 points against us at MSG a couple years ago.

Of course he has but now he's the one with the final say. The point that I've been trying to make is that Martelli isn't your average assistant coach.

Diabate is a 5 star freak. He isn't just easily replaced. Johns could get hot, sure.

Michigan also played against a different and worse version of this Rutgers team. Cliff had 4 points. Paul had 7. Dean played 4 minutes

Wow, he put up 20 points one time 2 years ago? Scary, he must be better than that guy who usually plays instead of him.
No - obviously not. The point is we can’t roll into the game thinking we’re getting a break. If we do we will lose. We’ve played up and down to opponents all year. Michigan has more than enough horses to beat us without him if we don’t bring our A game.

I agree with he isn’t your average assistant, but that is different than saying he will be a big upgrade.

I don't expect us to be favored in this game. But we will probably be getting a couple fewer points than we would've been under normal circumstances.

I'm not that concerned about Johns. He was playing behind Diabete for a reason. Remember the kid who torched us when he played for Fordham? Then we faced him with Clemson and he didn't do much

Exactly! But, I do think RU will be their A game!
