Think the Howard situation may help Michigan against us. They will have a Xs and Os upgrade and team will be pumped to play for their suspended/fired coach
Not only that.. someone I know made a convincing argument that Big Ten refs help short-handed teams.. especially against Rutgers.

And the team itself will feel its back is against the wall. They will rally at home.. it is not like they will be out of schollie players.

The way we have been playing we should beat em... but we'll have to see what the refs do. Last short-handed foe.. I forget who that was.. they called very few fouls and allowed the opponent to get very handsy.

Those are just missed games due to injury. It's not a national media scandal. Going to be hard for Michigan to focus

Losing Howard is an upgrade in coaching

Losing Diabete and Williams is a downgrade in talent

This entire situation is a giant distraction. Come out and start strong and they might just crumble
Agree. We just need to play our game. Let them worry about their own crap. Crisler is a tough place to play but it isn’t Mackey.

Maybe, but as posted, teams can rally in these circumstances.
True. But they have been pretty inconsistent all year, mainly because they are young and trying to blend new parts, but if you stay the course and ride out their waves you have a good chance.

Can't believe there are people who don't think coaching disarray and loss of a talented power forward (Diabate), who has been playing his best ball of late, and the first guy off the bench (Williams) is a good thing for us. Of course we still have to play with intensity and intelligence and as a team, as we have been, but the job will be easier. This is also a better team than it was against MN, but we still have to play well to win.

If this exact thing was happening to Rutgers and we were playing the #4 team in the B1G, you’d all be screaming the sky is falling and we’ll lose by 20. But somehow this will help Michigan. Makes sense
It may or may not make sense. But for us, based on so many years of experience, this kind of stuff hurts us more often than not. In fact, if I was ever in a situation where I had to sniff out some imposter Rutgers fans, I’d feed them a scenario like this and look to see if there was fear in their eyes.

They simply cant call fouls evenly when one team has a short bench…because the games could become a farce if one team ends up mostly playing the scrubs.

Unwritten rule of ‘fair’ officiating

We need to beat Michigan. This is the most important game. It takes a little pressure off with a win. The pressure ramps up for the final 3 games if we lose to Michigan. I think we continue to play well and take advantage of them being shorthanded. Wisconsin proved we can play well on the road. Get off to a good start and we will take crowd out of it. I predict a RU win.

The Michigan players have to know that there will be millions of extra eyes on Wednesday. So do the officials.

I don’t think their crowd will be much of a factor unless they really get going on the court first. Usually a sleepy crowd there unless they deem the game to be “big”. I also think Michigan fans have to be embarrassed by the team’s conduct. Not exactly a likeable team out there.

Yeaaa if we were missing Pike, Cliff, and Mag these same posters saying this is going to help Michigan would be saying chalk this game up as a loss if it happened to Rutgers.

Hate em. The refs jobbed us at the NIT final in MSG. I had to deal with a snarky fan up in the blues. My personal rivals

But he does lose his head. Long time ago, RU cheerleaders grabbed the hawk and stole the head. Hawk was ready to fight them all!
Years ago, I think it was SJU vs. Rhode Island, the URI Ram tried to slip an inner tube around the Hawk so he couldn't move his wings. The Hawk was pissed and fought the Ram to stay free. He's throwing punches with one wing and flapping the other to keep the tradition alive. I tried like hell to find it on You Tube but could not.

And how about this being our revenge game for beating us in 1976 final four!! I’m sure Phil, Hollis, Eddie, James , Mike and the rest of the regular season undefeated team are rooting for us.

I still haven't recovered from that loss in 1976.
