I don’t care where the game is played. We have figured out how to defend the arc. The game plan again is straightforward. Guard the arc like there’s no tomorrow. Our switching in man to man on picks has been insane. Continue that and who cares what Edy and Williams does. Purdue’s defense is lacking.
Leaving Ivey out of this for a moment , because he is incredible but can be out of control as well, the rest of the Purdue guards suck. Our guards Geo , Paul and Caleb are each better than Hunter and Thompson. We were post them up all day.
Just like the first game against them , we will let Edey and Williams get some of theirs but Sasha and Willis have to be shut out or limited from 3. Caleb will be guarding Ivey with help. When Cliff gets a rest , bring Dean in as a stretch shooting 3’s bringing Edey and Williams away from the basket Opening up driving lanes for our guards and either Ron (unlikely here will play ) Aundre or Mag.
Purdue ‘s defense is ranked about 110 and is poor in a lot of games and we are going to exploit all its weaknesses.
Finally, because their guards are shaky handling the ball and we would be wise not to let them run their half court offense all game (#1 offensive efficiency in the country ) , I would press all game or most of it. They will turn it over and have a 10 second violation or 2. I think this has to be part of Pike’s great game plans.
