Illini by 5, NW on a run. 3 minutes to go.

Despite myself, I find myself rooting for NW.

NW giving us a blueprint to beat Illinois. NW double and triple teaming Kofi in the first half and leaving others open for easy shots. NW changed their defense and slowed Illinois down considerably In the second half. 19-2 run has Illinois on their heels.

That's great if the whistle is going your way. If we throw bodies at Kofi and Cliff gets whistled for a few quick ones we're toast. Let Kofi get his points, hope you hold him to 20 or less and D up on everyone else

Audige literally giving the game back to Illinois.
I don’t think he’s selfish, but feels like he needs to be their guy.
To bad it’s at the expense of the 4 other players on the floor

And he doesn’t need to be. There is talent on that team that can score.

Thank you for this summary. I kind of checked out of this game after halftime and went to the store. I was wondering what they did to tighten up the game.

Illinois committed far too many turnovers in the second half allowing Northwestern to get fast break baskets.

Think the key for beating them is limiting the 3s. They shoot a lot from behind the arc and blow teams out when they hit at a good pace. Let Kofi take some shots and get some points but don’t over commit and leave the open 3s on the kick outs
You’re probably right. We can’t lose our inside game to foul trouble. We need that O on the other end. I mean, who on our team is going to shut down Kofi anyway? He’s a match up nightmare for most teams.

I have been saying that for weeks and that’s exactly how we beat Purdue we didn’t double down low and guarded the 3 point line

Let Reiber harass Kofi's hands. He's vulnerable to hand fighting

If they call fouls, stop.

That’s a good thought, but can you achieve that without one of our bigs? Say help D from a wing or forward who can absorb a couple of fouls?

The way the B1G is: Illinois and Purdue at home hold off Maryland and NW by a total of eight. Very little separation.

Kofi foul prone and pouts. Can get into his head. I thought Curebelo (sp) would take over but hasn’t. Have to
Limit threes.
Like SHU a few years ago when they were were not ducking us or chickening out, may not know what hit them with crowd.

Beat Illinois and they have a good chance of losing another if not more, given this league, and who knows we really could fight for a B1G title

part of the reason Wisconsin lost was that the three was there, but their best shooter had an off night....he was one for eight at one point, I don't think he did much after that either.

you could let the guy try a couple early and see if he is off...the big noisy crowd may influence....

Need the Crowd to be the difference. Student section must take it up two notches on Wednesday. Just come out with a mindset that NO you aren’t leaving here with a win.

yes he was.... but he did get off a few threes that were not
contested closely and he missed..... and this was on his home court..... someone can always throw up a stinker of a game, he did against us, and it was part of the reason we won'

just saying we can hope for the same again....

Think Wisconsin and Illinois are virtual opposites. Wisconsin worst 3-pt team in the league and #1 at getting to the line. So plan was more to cut off the drives and potentially allow some 3s. Illinois a very good 3 pt shooting team, this is where I think you need to focus on stopping them. Let Kofi make some post move and score some points, but we cannot have them go like 14-31 from 3

He is! Maybe when all is said and done the best player in the league. But watching Illinois games he can get rattled. I think Cliff can out run him too.
