I predict Cliff continues his upswing by having a big game.
I also predict that it will appear that Liddell has a longer wingspan than Harper Jr., yet he does not.

Tough game. OSU shoots 37% from deep, and every single one of their 7 primary rotation players -- except Zed Key -- shoots threes. We're going to have to let whomever is guarding Liddell, Key and Young in the paint play 1-on-1 defense, and not let their 3-pt shooters beat us.

The one advantage we seem to have is size, with Cliff and Reiber at 6-10 and nobody in OSU's true rotation going taller than 6-8 (Key and Young). Joey Brunk (6-11) plays a little, and Holtmann might have to play him a bit more to body up on Cliff.

This game will be the test to see how the new "Mulcahy Offense" operates in a world where now the word is out and teams will be scouting us to stop it.

But we don't seem to ever put consecutive "good" games together, so I can't pick us in this one.

I dunno... I always think of the Big Ten as being "owned" by Ohio State and Michigan.. they get all the calls, get all the attention on BTN.

OSU has 2 postponed games to make up with Nebraska and Iowa and has 7 other Big Ten games left after this one including 2 vs Michigan as well as MSU and Illinois. They are now 7-3 and 14-5 overall. They need this win (as do we, obviously). They are only 3-5 in Quad1. Rutgers is in better shape with 3-3 with Quad1 (but we have so many bad losses).

I'll "predict" a victory because that is what I do if I bother to predict. But I expect a lot of pain from the refs. Our big men will be tortured with fouls.. Cliff and.. Paul (yeah, not a big man but an important piece). Theirs will play like thugs and not be called.

But we shall win anyway... Jersey Mike's Magic... 77-69

Hoping I'm wrong here, but I hate this matchup for us. They just have a different breed of post player and can bring them in waves. Doesn't feel like a good spot for us.

We have the height, but they have the meat. I really worry about their interior scoring, rebounding, and second chance points

All of OSU’s losses are on the road, so there’s that. As usual our defense, especially guarding the arc, will be critical. I think we can turn them over, so if Caleb has a good defensive game it will be a great sign for us.

I think we can beat them inside, so the Paul/Cliff tandem must set a tone. Interestingly, Indy only shot 2-15 from deep when they crushed OSU, so if we just shoot decent from trey and give a great defensive effort, we should come out on top.

Rutgers wins 72-68.

Not feeling great about this. We're just so inconsistent.

That said feels like we've found something with Paul on offense and they're not a great road team.

I'll go Ohio State in a heartbreaker at the buzzer 72-70

Both teams have played SHU, Penn State, and Minnesota on the road. In those games, OSU is 3-0 and Rutgers is 0-3. Throw on top of that, OSU is 10-0 at home.

Conclusion - Good thing this game is at the RAC.

They are deep but if you read their boards, all of their fans are expecting a very tough game that can go either way. The Rutgers basketball team is very dangerous - especially at home - and has everyone in the B1G worried no matter who they play. OSU is only a 3-point favorite - basically a toss up game

Which board? I checked all 3 on the pinned message and there are essentially no posts on Rutgers game. There's a thread with one comment on one of the sites that's it

Either last year or the year before we were up by 17 when Johnson got hurt and that was the end of the game.

I like what reiber had done for us....he hasn't excelled at defensive rebounding and guarding beefy guys in the post.

I wouldn't be shocked if Hyatt plays a roll. He actually rebounds slightly better than Reiber on the defensive glass. OSU will put out 4-5 guys at a time that canbeat you from deep. However are they guys that will come off screens or shoot slightly contested? I think Hyatt can hang defensively in a game like this. If Pike can drill in him he is needed for rebounding and 50/50s maybe Hyatt plays a big role.
