Shame on some of these posts. Yes Geo and Ron had bad games. It happens. It’s tough when it happen simultaneously. But neither are selfish in our credits to ru. That being said, the idea that Harper needs to go to the NBA is just not in touch with reality. He should be coming back to play another year and enjoy one more year of basketball.
It wasn’t just the one at the end of the game, Ron missed several easy ones down the stretch. I’m sure he didn’t miss them on purpose, but big time players don’t miss those shots

Geo definitely doesn’t give a sh*t anymore and it shows.
I sometimes wonder if that's the case too... This might have nothing to do with his attitude, but I haven't seen anyone else on the team smiling or joking around when we're getting badly beaten... Makes it seem like he's not as serious about it as he used to be... He's done it before, and it looked like it again tonight, on the bench after Reiber hit the fade away jumper in the paint when we were down 17... Whatever Geo said it had Mag smiling, and Geo hid his face behind Mag's shoulder for a few seconds, apparently laughing or saying something else. Maybe there was a legitimate reason for him doing that, but it seemed out of place considering the score.

Who has life in their legs and who seems to be playing with 5th year senior legs with over 4200 minutes logged in his college career?

interesting stats. Geo does look like a shell of himself physically from when he peaked in 2019-20.

When has he been good lately? I mean zero points last night. That’s embarrassing. No excuse. I would bench him.
It's hard to understand... Geo shot well against Michigan, but in the 8 games since then he only shot well against Minnesota. In the other 7 games he shot a combined 23-83 FG (27.7%), and 6-39 3PT (15.3%). And some of his 3PT shots seem to be missing badly.

Geo has never been a good three point shooter. I think that fact has been obscured for some time by the fact that he did make several threes in critical, late game situations. But Geo has never been a good shooter.

Geo definitely looked off all night. Sloppy handling the ball, obviously awful shooting, and the critical turnover he threw right at Ron's feet that was uncatchable. I was wondering if he was sick. The only other option Pike could use in his place is Caleb, as Miller won't provide offense and for whatever reasons, he clearly does not trust Jones right now.

Harper... incredible that our #1 offensive player on the year was basically invisible on offense for so much of the first half when we dug our massive hole. I won't kill him for missing the last shot, it was a pretty good look, and he has been very strong from the charity stripe this season. (He is #1 in B1G-only FT% at 40-43, which is awesome!) But the disappearing act is maddening. There was at least one rebound that he tipped away from a teammate that ended up in Northwestern's hands last night. Tough night.

Geo and Harper deserved to be killed for tonight and this season . But their rutgers run was way way better than billet and Hodgson . It’s not even close
Not about their run. About the effort and consistency of their play on both ends of the court. The whole team was fun to watch and lost games but didn't embarrass.

A factor too many never want to admit. "sporadically spectacular"
When he's hot he's hot. But a cocktail of 1/3 star, 2/3rds average at best. (don't ask me about his defense and ball handling skills)

Yeah, but it's just odd that he can shoot pretty well from 3 for a game or two, and be much worse a few days later.. And I don't think the opposing defense is the only reason...

For example, in the 8 games since Michigan that I mentioned, he shot 7-14 from 3PT vs Minnesota, and 4-9 vs Maryland three days later. In the other 6 games he was a combined 2-30 from 3... I realize that he's always been somewhat inconsistent, but that type of inconsistency, and the frequency of it, just seems unusual.

I remember he athletic he looked in our great comeback against I think Northwestern at the RAC a few years ago.

this I believe is Geo from the March 2020 game vs Maryland, he physically looks stronger and cut up, he definitely is not that this season

Paul Mulcahy scored 0 points three games ago against Maryland.
ok really. What's the point? You're comparing Paul to a 5th year senior captain who's been the face of the program and expected to score on average 12-14 points?
When Paul doesn't score do you look at his other stats like rebounds and assists and turnovers?
Paul's not expected to carry this team on the scoring end. Harper and Baker are.

Harper was missing in action early in the game but still scored 16 points which is his average. The problem was the lack of scoring from the rest of the team except for Paul and Cliff.Baker and McConnell not scoring a point clearly impacted the final score and the resulting loss.

Ok, played great last night, but very inconsistent overall.
Paul has been less consistently bad lately than Geo though, and he's been shooting better than his season averages... Geo on the other hand, has been shooting worse. Yeah, Paul missed the 3 shots that he took against Maryland and ended up with 0 points (and 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 block), but other than that he's been more consistent than Geo overall lately.

In the last 8 games since Michigan:
Geo: 32-100 FG (32%), 13-53 3PT (24.5%), 21Reb, 30 AST.- Seas Avg: FG .384%, 3PT .317%
Paul: 33-68 FG (48.5%), 7-21 3PT (33.3%), 39Reb, 47 AST.- Seas Avg: FG .401%, 3PT .302%
Games of last 8 when shot 33.34% FG or worse: Geo: 7 Paul: 3
Games of last 8 when shot 30% FG or worse: Geo: 5, Paul: 2

I had a dream that Rutgers was playing a conference game and Paul took the game over. With the game on the line they called an isolation for Paul with Geo and Ron watching from the wings.

Yup Paul does what a captain is supposed to do when not scoring. He is diving for loose balls, passing, rebounding and hustling like crazy.
