A Rutgers buddy of mine is a Cherry Hill East grad and CHE is taking on Lenape @Lenape in Medford tonight at 6pm. Should be a solid game as both teams are 15-1 on the season. Currently Lenape is ranked #2 in South Jersey (behind Camden) and CHE is ranked #5. Assuming I can make it, I'm gonna make sure he and I and my son all rep the "R" tonight... make him feel the RU love in what will otherwise be a Lenape whiteout game per their social. I'll report back, let y'all know what I think of his game. ;)

Some schools are holding on to the 2 fans per player mandate. NO idea about Lenape though.

Actually with them advertising it as a whiteout I'm thinking I'm good to go, no limit on crowd capacity.

This was probably posted before, but just in case anyone isn't aware and is interested, many of Lenape's games are broadcast free on Team1Prep (link below). Today's game vs Cherry Hill East is being broadcast, and previous Lenape games are also available to watch. Simpson wears number 2 for Lenape. He scored 34 points against Camden Catholic during the past week as was reported in another thread, and 21 points against Cherry Hill West. Recordings of both of those games are available to watch.

(The video player allows one click fast forwarding or rewinding at 30 second intervals for recorded games, and allows various slow motion or fast motion settings.)

Let us know how you make out. I’m about 2 miles from Lenape and was interested in seeing him play this year.

Not a good first half. Two points on a dunk, missed his jumpers. Down 6 at the half.

He looked pretty good in the Camden Catholic game on Thursday, a little better in the second half if I remember correctly... He fell to the floor hard on one play, and seemed to be rubbing or shaking his hand or wrist several times after that, and again after another play... Wonder if there's some stiffness or swelling affecting his shooting tonight, or if he's just having a cold shooting spell.

Lost by 4, ah HS refs, remember them well. CHE plays old time basketball. No shot clock, they run a lot of time off the clock before any shot. Low scoring game, not many possessions.

Simpson had 8 points, all layups, and 2 FTs, missed all his jumpers. Several assists, couple rebounds.

Reminds me of Geo. Not as tall, but long arms, got a couple steals. Does have a quick first step, looked like he could get his shot off anytime he wanted to, but gave the ball up a lot. Definately will need to hit the weight room, thin. Shot came up short most of the time. Hit his two FTs. Will definitely need to be coached up to play better defense, but has the tools to play it.

Sounds like another Pikiell project, but with more to work with. In any event, probably can't expect much out of him for a year or two.

What happened on the steal with about 40 seconds left. Camera did not follow the play. Did he miss the dunk? That would have changed the game. That 4-point play foul was brutal.

I assume so, score didn’t change. Missed travel hurt also. Tied game, they would have gotten the ball and perhaps play for the last shot.

What # is Derek #. Last year he was 3 but there was no 3 on floor unless he fouled out. #2 and #4 had a lot of length.

I ended up going, fun game, even though East REALLY slows things and limits attempts/possessions. I still cannot believe that a shot clock hasn't been implemented in HS ball. I thought there would've been one by now, at least a 45 second one. Teams can just run clock for unlimited lengths, it's insane. Re: Derek, he forced the issue slightly at times due to this, and his jumper was just a bit off. That said, you can see he is oozing with talent. He's got good length, he's quick, he can really elevate, seems pretty engaged on D. Once again not a true PG... he's a scoring PG like we always seem to land at RU, but he did have a few nice passes. He will be a legit B1G guard IMHO.

Crazy ending to the game with that running three from East's PG at the end from WAY behind the arc, and he got fouled and hit his FT, too. Insane. BTW Lenape seems to have a really nice (and massive) school and facilities. Cool place, fun crowd. They had their band sitting in the stands with the students. East really travelled well though since they're so close. They had at least the same amount of students with them, and at times were louder than Lenape's so it felt like a CHE home game at times. They also had some funny chants. They did the "Mister Softee!" any time one of their players fouled a Lenape kid that resulted in the player hitting the floor, ha. And a couple of times when Derek was handling the rock they chanted "Rutgers Camden!". Was offensive but funny, hahaha.

Today is not a good day to tell RU fans that Simpson reminds you of Geo. šŸ˜€
