And isn't that the coach's job to tell his players how he wants them to play... That's on Pike
Not saying it’s not. But you can’t say geo is not selfish. I still think geo should have been coming off the bench since his mid season injury last year.

A fifth year senior to finish with that stat line… RU + 5 and he throws the ball away like he’s never made a pass before… suspect mr. NIL give me every dollar

Definitely crossed my mind . But usually point shavers come from the favored team.

Not sure why they were even in for OT. Both looked completely lost tonight. Geo with two critical errors in OT and Ron just bricks the biggest shot of the game. Should have been Paul and Cliff on those last 2 possessions not the guys with Senioritis. Almost like the two of them were trying to throw the game. Not saying they were but how do your top 2 guys suddenly go so bad?
Because Pike is loyal to a fault with those two, almost like they're in a union and can never get their jobs challenged, and Pikes their Union boss.

As I said elsewhere. Start Paul, Cliff, Mag, Ron and Caleb and start game with Press. That worked very well tonight. Pike has started the Press earlier and earlier. If he doesn’t start the game with it, start as soon as the lousy ball movement and stagnant offense shows itself.
Bad idea

Completely insane post. We would be at least 3 wins worse without them.
I'm not convinced we wouldn't have a better record than we do right now after game 21. It would have sped up the development process of Mag, Reiber, Hyatt, Jones, Miller, etc giving them more minutes a game early in the schedule like Purdue did last year. The same team that started 7-5(2-3) and finished the season winning 11 of 14 B1G games with 4 freshman getting major minutes, Ivey 557, Edey 411, Newman 662, Gillis 622. They are 18-3 this year.

You do know we beat Clemson and Purdue without Geo. Without Ron, Pikiell would have been forced to hit the transfer portal to replace Ron or forced his hand to find a new go-to scorer game 1 vs Lehigh and we would have been better off than we are at game 21 of the season. heading into 21-30 with Paul, Cliff, Mag and we would have discovered other scoring options already with everyone getting Geo and Ron's 65-70 minutes a game the last 20 games. Look at what happened vs Minnesota, three guys that played a combined 40 minutes on the year, played 40 minutes each and beat us. Players step up when others aren't there and are given a legit chance to play more than 3-4 minute runs each half.

lol

Replace Ron in the portal. Sure. Plenty of 24% usage/110 ORtg guys out there.

Harper was #2 in scoring against Lehigh. We lose that one without him.

Geo and Harper scored 47 against Michigan. We lose that one without them.

Harper played almost a perfect game against Purdue. Even if we somehow replaced him with someone 5% worse we would've lost the Purdue game.

On 1 end. Ron was terrible on both.

Geo’s performance was disappointing. Ron’s performance was embarrassing.

agree. People are forgetting that these games are happening vs Nebby and NW and we got NW C- game tonight even in the first half.

the most disappointing aspect to me is that Rutgers failed to even compete for the first 25 minutes. As a head coach how do you allow that to happen?

I think these games are being lost in practice

Sorry. The blaming Pike thing is getting old. Players need to be blamed. If your really want to be honest this game and the season were blown between April and October when Certain players didn’t take Stength and conditioning serious.
I am starting to believe that the slow starts have something to do with this and some players knowing they need to conserve themselves for later in the game.

That said we don't know how much is on the players and how much is the staff. Motivation is part of the staff's job. Designing a conditioning regimen is part of the staff's job.

how many black holes on this team...Palmquist, Miller, Jones, Agee, Hyatt....wow and Reiber yes is becoming a nice role player. Its a large number of misses

You have to blame pike back to back games down double digits in first have with offense nowhere to be found and he elects to bring in Jalen Miller. There is plenty of blame to go around at all levels. This program is about to free fall and one smart player offseason decision away form being worse in year 7 than year 1.

Zero points from two starters is unacceptable. Pike needs to reevaluate the minutes of Caleb, Miller and Palmquist, and somehow find more minutes for Mag and Reiber.

Shame on some of these posts. Yes Geo and Ron had bad games. It happens. It’s tough when it happen simultaneously. But neither are selfish in our credits to ru. That being said, the idea that Harper needs to go to the NBA is just not in touch with reality. He should be coming back to play another year and enjoy one more year of basketball.

Can we stop calling seniors clutch when they throw passes like that in crunch time? A freshman wouldn’t do that.
This. Seniors who have played a lot of basketball. Not mentally tough. No other explanation I can think of
