if Nebraska is to get a B1G win, I feel this it. Can’t see us sweeping anyone…and we got blitzed there last year when we had a better team.

I think we’re melting down at this point and Nebraska has players even though they play dysfunctionally.

RU fans are losing faith in the team at this point. I will stick around for one more game and call it,

RU 65 - Neb 62

Interested is seeing how Sweet Pea calls it. Pup’s betting ledger has taken a beating on RU this season but I’m thinking he circles RU in this one.

But patience is running out with the RU fan base. A loss in this one may empty the RU bandwagon.

When this team is playing for pride, it consistently shows it has none. I expect it’ll be similar to last season’s game in Lincoln: Over before it begins.

Is this team the NAM, GFS or Euro. I’ll bet 1/2 or more of the B1G ask the same question. Michigan is Exhibit 1.

Although it isn’t logical……I am going to say we are not going to see 3 straight games where our opponent has their A shooting game and we get a C or worse from Nebraska. I think the core 5 are still one unit and that helps when there is adversity.

Rutgers 69 (not 70 😃)
Nebraska 56

let me add Pike knows this is a must win. You see 6 minutes from the bench in the 2nd half. (Not counting Cliff back up)

Are you looking for a mid season transfer to start?

Who exactly do you want your starting 5 to be?
So you want to continue these slow starts to every game since Michigan by these 5 starters, the numbers are there.

Nebraska 6-9 1st TV timeout, 3-5, 2 ast, 2 TOs(5pts), Caleb, Paul, Ron
@ PSU 2-4 1st TV, 1-6, 1 ast Cliff
@ Md 4-10 1st TV(and1 FT after, 4-11), 2-5, 4 TOs(8pt), 2 Paul
Iowa 6-5 1st TV, 3-7, 3 ast, 3 TOs(2pts), 2 Cliff, Ron
@ Minn 5-11 1st TV, 2-6, 2 ast, 2 TOs(4pts) Geo, Cliff
Md 7-8 1st TV, 3-7, 3ast, 1TO(0pt) Cliff, Geo, Ron
hit first 3, miss next 9, 1 TO

5 Cliff, 3 Ron, 3 Paul, 2 Geo, 1 Caleb, 6 games first 4 Minutes.

14-34, 41%, 11 ast, 12 TOs(19pts off)
7ast Paul, 3ast Caleb, 1ast Geo
30-47 first 4 minutes or so, you want to go down, 5-8 or 4-11 @ Nebraska and continue these rough starts, have to exert more energy effort to come back after another slow start.

It melted down last game at home to Maryland, started with starters and rotations became erratic, down 15-35, before 3-0 Agee, 8-3 Dean, Caleb, Paul, Ron, Geo got it within 12, 26-38.

We have too many ball handlers not enough scorers would be a start, Ron is our only true scorer, scores from anywhere that starts, Paul PG and tries, <Caleb, Geo shooters/Ball handlers>, Cliff Post, will become a great scorer/shooter end of year/next year. I said it from day one before the season that Geo and Caleb didn't work because they are the same player, Caleb is just a taller version of him, Geo is more range, high rate 10-15+ shooter, where Caleb is less rate 8-10 FGa guy off the bench replacing him. Before the season career FG%, Geo and Caleb exactly 38.3%, Geo is 32% from 3, Caleb 28%, but Caleb a much better defender than Geo ever dreams. I figured they would worked it out but 11-8 says 30 minutes of each isn't working all the time

Caleb 9 of 11 games, FG 37.5% or better 2-8 FGa, 9-2, less than, 2-6
Geo 9 of 11 games, 3 asts or more, 9-2, 1 or 2 asts 0-4,
missed 4 games 2-2, beat Clemson, Purdue.

I'm not saying Caleb can't get 20-25 minutes, 6-10 shots up, great defense off the bench, I would have limited the time on the floor with Geo and.Caleb together. i checked Evan Miya site 2 player combos on offense 175 possessions together are least offense efficient team geo/caleb 100.6, Cliff/Caleb 99.6, Paul/Caleb 100.6, Caleb/Hyatt 94.4, defense *81.7* elite,'team 21-22 102.9, *95.6*. I would love to see them both as a defensive lockdowns off the bench, 20-25 minute guys and see who on the other team is hot, Caleb sticking a guard, Hyatt on a forward.

Nice analysis......but didn't answer question.

What 5 do you possibly want to see?

We both know we have an offensively flawed starting 5, but we really have an offensively flawed roster. The guys on the bench are no better offensively and much worse defensively.

I get it that people are disappointed and frustrated we aren't winning. There is bargaining going on that we arent winning because coach is not putting people in the right place.

A spot on comment with the emphasis on offensively challenged roster.Recruiting must improve ASAP.

I honestly don't know who the 5th guy could/should be. Jalen, Jaden, Mag, Dean, Oskar, Ralph? Just knowing Caleb and Hyatt are our 2 best defending tandem on the team misused the way they are is very inefficient. We need to know who on the other team gets hot first and use Caleb and Hyatt to come in and shut them down, make them feel good and use Caleb/Hyatt to demoralize and throw them off their game.. Dean is an underrated defender according to numbers.

last realistic chance for a road win.Nebraska stinks and Rutgers would be in a very dire position with a loss.

Let me help with this.....
Replace Paul with Hyatt.

How will that makes us start any better?
It would make Geo or Caleb the primary ball handler to start, and the other the primary shooter, Hyatt is a "scorer" but his stats tell me he's more shooter than scorer with a career 36% FG compared to Ron's 44-45% FG. Three guys career under 40% FG would be worse offensively but better defensively.

It's all about complementary players to what you do and don't do well, regardless of class. Ron and Geo can score in bunches, less than on defense, where Caleb and Hyatt can score but in less doses, but are better defenders at their position. Paul needs that complementary player good ball handler and more scorer than passer and defense. Cliff should be the scorer to Dean's defense, hands, and passing at the 5 which lead us to that 5th spot on the floor that's missing, figure out Paul's complementary player and which 2 players fills that fifth spot and they can win in bunches tomorrow. They've tried Caleb and Hyatt and it leads to struggling to beat NET 300 teams and a poor road record, they need to be complementary to Ron and Geo

Do you want to actually change the minutes distribution or are you just hoping to put one guy in the Myles role from last year where he's not starting but is still the main guy.

Yes to minutes, Cliff has his complement in Dean this year. Pike just needs to continue to trust Dean more.

Edit...
Best 3 player efficiency combo(60 minimum)
Had to give the 100/200 possession bench guys a chance to be on the list, there is a few ridiculous ones at 0 minimum possessions

(Adj)
(+28.6)Jaden Paul Cliff 115.9 95.2 O 81 D 84
(+27.3)Geo Hyatt Caleb 101.9 78.9 O 96 D 103
(+26.4)Ron Jaden Cliff 115.1 94.7 O 92 D 94
(+23.5)Geo Hyatt Cliff 117.7 95.4 O 177 D 185
(+23.3)Geo Paul Cliff 105.5 82.2 O 442 D 437
(+22.2)Geo Hyatt Paul 108.8 84.3 O 146 D 150
(+21.2)Ron Paul Dean 124.0 108.9 O 79 D 78
(+21.0)Geo Ron Cliff 107.5 89.2 O 504 D 506
(+20.1)Ron Jaden Paul 112.8 99.1 O 109 D 112
A bunch between +15.0-+19.9

They have a team chemistry Player 1 Player 2
Top 10 Hyatt/Dean, Dean/Jalen(33), Ron/Dean, Geo/Cliff, Ron/Cliff
Ron/Hyatt, Paul/Cliff, Geo/Hyatt, Ron/Paul, Geo/Paul

Also Jalen's 2nd is Ron
Caleb Hyatt and Cliff
Jaden Cliff and Ron
Mag, Ron and Paul

Analytics work for rotations, 5 player lineup if you use them properly.
Sorry to hijack the thread.

There is ZERO doubt the best lineup, BY FAR, is the starting 5. Our best chance of winning is Pike pushing the envelope and playing the starters as many minutes as possible.

This is short sighted because it imapcts games in the future.

I would like to see Cliff, Geo, Paul, Ron and Dean. With Caleb and Hyatt off the bench. I would try Jones before Miller. Miller is a zero on offense. In the last 2 games rebounding has hurt us more than defense. Too many 2nd chances killed us. This is a must win and we can’t afford weird combos on the court with only one offensive player. Mag has energy, but has produced nothing on offense since his injury.

When everyone counts this team out its when they finally show up and win

As for starting 5... I wouldn't mind Mag starting simply to ensure more energy and intensity from the opening tip to set the tone. Mag always brings that to the table. He hasn't found his groove since the injury yet though
