what Geo and company did was that they had a hunger to finally deliver that bid, our fans really appreciated the hard work. Seems like when they reached that level, there was a big drop off in intensity and consistency that everyone could see. The team worked a little less hard.

Who is the Geo on the team now...Geo was able to flourish as a 2nd option to Corey Sanders. Then Ron, JY, and Myles came in and grew into men. You could see the potential that they all had. So looking at our current roster of underclassmen do you see that?

We needed overtime wins on the last day of the season both of the last two years to be ncaa tournament caliber
What's behind the door on the last day of the season in year number...

what would not surprise me is if this team actually went on a Big 10 tourney run. When they want to and everything clicks they can beat almost any team in the league.

do you think Pike's style is one to be aggressive with the portal and willing to hand the keys over to 1 or 2 year guys over guys like Paul and Caleb...good luck with that. Plus with little hope of a ncaa bid for next season, getting an impact guard and foward is a tall task. Pieces are only going to get you mediocrity and bottom 4 in the Big 10. Does Pike have a shark bite in him?
Yikes responding to something I posted in November (which is completely fine).....

I don't want to post my thoughts on the matter. I'd feel a lot better about the situation if NIL wasn't a factor in the game. Late March and early April determined this season's fate. I think the same will hold true for next year.

It would be a MUST to finish in top 10. If we play on low like day AKA loser day we are screwed. A team without a bench has ZERO shot playing 5 stratight days.

Agree. I can already hear analysts mentioning Rutgers as the dark horse candidate to win the B1G tourney title.

Cliff is better than any of our underclassmen were in 2019 but no, I don't see it. But it's also the case that by the end of the 2019 season Geo Baker had basically played 2 full seasons. He played 76.4% of our minutes as a freshman and 84.4% as a sophomore. Ron Harper and Myles Johnson were playing a lot of minutes.

Having no OOC schedule last year and then having Ron, Geo, and Paul here clogging up all the minutes can't be good for the development of these players.

I'm really not trying to argue that I think we're going to be good next year or something.

How that would not surprise you is baffling to me
Wouldn’t surprise me either. We have the kind of team that can beat anyone or lose to anyone on a given day. Combine that with an overall weaker conference and a run in the BIG tourney is not impossible for us. As someone said, we need to make sure we’re not playing in the first out bracket round to have a shot.

RU could be a 10 seed and beat 7 seed Indiana and then beat 2 seed Wisconsin..is it that crazy too imagine....would be hard to win that third game but thats why they play and who knows maybe there is an upset on the other side and its Iowa as the 6

The fact that RU beat probably the top team in league and then beat two schools likely in the 6-8 range means they are quite capable of making the Big 10 semis, not saying its likely but its not outrageous either

Right now Pike is on a path similar to Gary Waters, except Pike has been more successful in getting NCAA bids. Everyone could see Waters lack of recruiting success after Douby left. Pike needs to really step up recruiting, need more then under recruited potential diamonds in the rough.

Sad state here. The fact that it’s not even February and we are almost resigned to the fact we will need a BIG conference tournament miracle to salvage this season . .

Win the 1st game and then you have 3 to go. Purdue Illinois Michigan State and Ohio State should really be looking forward to the NCAA tournament. Playing 3 games in a row impacts a team, right around when the 1st round is.

I believe Rutgers was impacted last night from the Iowa game. GO ahead and tell me these are 18-22 year old kids, but I know full effort takes a toll and a week later is right in the wheelhouse of when it could be.

Maybe. Those Harper airballs were pretty strange.

We played really hard that game and are only playng 5. I understand what you are saying. There is a reason other than shooting why teams are inconsistent on a game by game basis. If this fatigue stuff wasn't real every RU player wouldn't have a device in their shorts trying to quantify their "power" level.

All teams are tired, please don't make excuses for the performances we have put up last two games.
