Some of the blame for our results need to be placed with the players. You’d think one of our leaders Geo, Ron or Caleb would bring the team together and demand they stop embarrassing themselves and start generating their own energy and play all out from tip off and stop with the piss poor body language and effort when shots stop falling.

They saw what happens against IOWA if they go all out on defense when shots aren’t falling.

If Ron and Geo came back to win the b10 you’d think they are pissed as heck and would be a leader. I certainly would.

Geo launches multiple shots per game where he never even looks to pass. Pounds the ball into the floor for 10-15 seconds and then launches a step back jumper. RHJ is the most guilty of poor body language. Caleb needs to know when his shot is not falling and look to generate offense from within 10 feet. The list goes on and on.

The notion that players can change performance by having a meeting is wishful thinking.This is a team that lacks talent which then translates into poor performances on the court.The starting lineup is very experienced but has shown no consistency all season.The bench lacks difference makers to overcome poor performances from the starters.Yes,this team can upset more talented opponents but also can lose to teams like Lafayette.

Agreed but my opinion is that the senior leadership (maybe not Caleb) are statistically selfish. Geo and RHJ are shoot first offensive players most of the time at the detriment to flow of offense. Yes we need the two of them to score but flow has been lacking this year and it is directly attributable to people chasing stats versus developing an offensive flow (my opinion).

We lost. We got beat. We played hard for most of the game. MAryland played hard. They made shots and we missed ours. End of discussion.

I really believe that a little bit of success the team experiences goes to their heads and they start thinking they are better than they are. Then they lay a couple eggs which puts their heads where it should have been all along and then ultimately beat someone they shouldn’t. Mental toughness is a big issue, most of the mental toughness from last year went to the portal.

After 35-15 the effort was there. My whole premise on why I was way below consensus for this year's performance was effort from our leaders. I didn't like what i saw last year. I didn't see effort at all as the issue past 35-15.

If you are willing to pass, screen, cut and not be stagnant on offense, opportunities will present themselves. As of now there are very few people on this roster that are willing to do those things. I like that RHJ and Geo have a scorers mentality but there is big difference in scoring and forcing. This year they have been forcing.
I have seen very little emphasis from other teams of attempting to stop Geo and RHJ at all costs. Most defenses that RU has seen are very plain vanilla and base in nature. There are opportunities to bring others into scoring but it takes the extra pass, cut or screen to make happen. And as I said the core of this team is selfish.

the leadership failure and effort comes in getting down 35-15, do not give them credit for trying after that, this isnt pre school.

The issue its not the first time this team has laid eggs in the first half....they did it every cupcake game early on, did it at Penn State, Minny, MD. Last night was the worst example. We also saw this team play the same way last season at MSU and the often forgotten disaster at a horrible Nebraska.

Look you are going to have off nights and you will get waxed some nights but its clear this team mentally is a mess and the coaches have just done a poor job allowing the softness to fester. After every big win the team has a huge drop off where they do not work the next game.

I appreciate Ron's comments and its being a leader by saying them. That said these were the type of comments needed to be said in the wretched early season games..AFTER WINS. The writing was on the wall early and I do not this team realized that they mailed it in early with bad habits that unfortunately have come back to bite them. They have not really learned a lesson from losses to Lafayette and UMass because we just say those games be played out 2 months later....Lafayette/Maryland and UMass/Minnesota

Ron was an absolute zombie that game. It looked like he had a 102 degree fever. It looked like you would feel after playing the last game of pickup basketball after you have been playing for 5 hours. Your mind wants your legs to move, but the body doesnt

The notion that player should be better as seniors than they were as sophomores is not wishful thinking and it is a reflection of gross negligence in "coaching" by our staff
