This year's team might not be the best team ever, but it certainly going to be better than next year's team after Cliff transfers and Reiber's our starting center and Agee's our starting power forward.

That is a great way to look at it. Enjoy this season because next year will need some magic to be this competitive.

Agee is not eligible next year.
So the starting 5 will be Miller/Caleb/Mulcahy/Mag/Reiber.

Jones will be gone and we will see about Cliff but its no better then 50/50 when the big boys come calling. No guarantee Caleb comes back either. Monumental off-season changes needed of even field a somewhat competitive team next year

It almost seemed like Ron and the offense were just walking around dazed and confused.

And you have faith in Pike recruiting the portal to achieve these monumental offseason changes

If Pike actually believes half the diatribes he spews, we're even in more trouble than we think. The man has been completely wrong with many of his views of the last 2 years. He's been whistling past the graveyard for quite a while now.

And then we have his abysmal recruiting over that timeframe as well. Miss after miss after miss.

Leading a team or business and filling their heads that 'you are great', 'best ever' does not seem to be the greatest management strategy...you could say they have the 'potential' to be the best ever but don't give them that designation in training camp. Particularly when NOBODY expected them to be better than last year given the players you lost/added. Because when people hold you accountable to that statement, trust begins to fade away.

It's possible some of the players who have been disappointing this season were killing it in practice and he legit thought the team would be better.

Carino went to a practice prior to the season and said it was the best shooting practice he's ever seen at Rutgers.

Sometimes teams just don't pan out for a variety of reasons. Most of which have been discussed repeatedly

Doubt it. Teams can have a good day here or there but no way this team was consistently shooting well in practice. Also, an experienced and competent coach should be able to assess relative talent of his players vs the caliber of peers. That's part of the coach's job because it impacts recruiting and transfer portal usage. Pike has essentially failed at all of this for 2 years now. Unless he does a serious self-evalution, we're liking heading in a brutal direction

In fairness he is not wrong, they are the best shooting team in the Big Ten outside of the three point line

There is no chance that this winds up being our starting lineup. This team would not win a single conference game. You can get kids out of the A10 and MAAC to start over a couple of these.

I’m not sure that line up would ever score 50 points In a game…..portal portal portal. Will make or break pike next year. He has to change his ways, or he’ll be on the hot seat after next season
