They just don’t want it bad enough. None of our stars look as if they really WANT to go Dancing this year. In the past years yes they looked competitive and looked like they wanted it. Especially young Ron, Geo, Caleb, Paul. Now with some NCAA Tournament appearances it just looks like these guys already reached their goal so they just don’t care. I believe this is an NCAA TEAM they just don’t want it bad enough. It’s sad. Because we could’ve went dancing again this year. (feedback always necessary haha)

we are not even on the bubble currently, we are not even among the last 8 out.

12 games to be played so that could change but 1-6 on the road with 2 really bad losses are big red flags right now

NCAA tourney talent, but too soft to make it this season.

Our current play, our play since November 30th, has been perfectly good enough for a mid-level NCAA tournament team. The problem is that we need to not just perform at an NCAA level but at a high enough level to erase the disastrous beginning to the season.

8-4 against Clemson, @Illinois, Purdue, @Seton Hall, Maine, Central Connecticut, Michigan, Nebraska, @Penn St, @ Maryland, Iowa, @ Minnesota is a perfectly solid, though not spectacular, run.

we are not even on the bubble currently, we are not even among the last 8 out.

We're not among the last 16 out right now. If we'd won today then perhaps.
Right. We may not even be among the first 32 out. We have a long way to climb.

We have not been considered an NCAA tournament team by most reasonable standards for months now. Strange OP

Don’t say “months” more like weeks because with win against PSU, and Minnesota we would’ve been in talk for bubble.

With this roster, NCAA tournament was the minimum standard. We are exceedingly mediocre and not sure if it’s the coach or the players or both. Oh well.
I was not expecting to make the tournament until Pikiell started talking them up. We were barely a tournament team last season and lost two major contributors.

There is nothing obviously great about this roster. It's just last year's team minus a couple key players and with the addition of fairly underwhelming transfers. And last year's team was only a 10 seed.

They wouldn’t have lost by one possession if they didn’t want it
Should have pulled away when up 5. I don't believe that they don't want it. They just have an enigma of playing hard on the road.

Okay maybe I shouldn’t talk for the whole team. But certain individuals at times look as if they don’t want to be on the court in winnable games.

agree with this. Team is absolutely bipolar and need a sports psychologist pronto.

But they certainly want to win, it’s silly to say otherwise.

agree

4 losses on the road to schools who will not be dancing and 2 of them possibly finishing last or next to last in their leagues and one home loss which is the worst in history
The won/loss record tells the story with todays game just another example of futility on the road against a opponent with a depleted roster. Its hard to watch but history tells us don't expect wins on the road.

@Penn State, @Minnesota, even @DePaul aren't horrible horrible losses in and of themselves. UMass and Lafayette are the real killers.

not in themselves but those are not good teams....you cannot pile a bunch of them and we still have nw, mich, nebby where we can lose to

you have to be better than just being satisified with beating Maryland

We have no margin for error because of UMass and Lafayette. If you can go .500 or slightly better in games like those (those being stuff like @ Minnesota, @ Penn State) you are going to be okay.. not gaining ground but not really losing it either.

We have been wildly inconsistent this year, playing like absolute and total dogshit 4 times: Lehigh (got away with it), Lafayette, @ Illinois, @ Penn State.

Harper had two wide open shot attempts down the stretch that he clanged. We probably win if he makes one of those. However should have never been in that situation considering Minnesota’s depleted roster. Elite teams step on the neck of inferior opponents. We like to let them hang around and offer hope.

Correction: we don’t let them hang around…We spot them double digit leads from the jump and play catch-up the rest of the way

those are alot of losses to schools who aint so hot
Penn state is not a bad loss tbh. A shame because their roster issues were a gift. (Minny) and we couldn’t cash it in. Bad loss at this point.

Unless we win win B1G tourney zero chance we go dancing. You cant have heart when you feel like it. It has to be there every game

Ignorant post
12-8 and 1 tournament win we are in
Means must go 7-5
Must win next 3 to have chance
We all said must go 5-2 in these 7 games
Still well within reach
Means 4-5 to end season
Granted this makes it harder but not over
I still don’t know why Geo who scored 12 in a row didn’t take most of shots
Amazing how attitudes change on 1 shot
If Harper win game this board would make us final 4 bound

It’s def not over but we need some road wins. The schedule is bad in February not only due to who we play but the timing on some of the road games is brutal. Gonna need some bench guys to grow up in a hurry.

Win next 2 on road and perspective changes
They aren’t gimmes but if we play tough D and don’t get opposition to hit 10 plus contested 3s I like our chances . Geo and Ron have been key in putting us in position to have NCAA expectations . Let’s relish each game and root for these guys . They won’t quit

Yes I did actually with the offensive stand point. They bring defense intensity almost every game just can’t convert on offense.
Offense is not a sign of wanting it. Defense is and even you could admit their defense was great against Iowa. Today the offense was pretty good but defense was not as good. I show no signs this team doesn’t want it

I agree
When we denied Willis in last 4-5 minutes they didn’t do much. I was ok also
When opposition hits contested 3s just have to give them Credit
I do think we let them dictate tempo
Should have pressed them entire game

This team is missing a 3rd reliable scorer. The best RU team recently had Geo, Ron, Jacob and Akwasi.

Hopefully they can string some wins together to make it interesting down the stretch.
