I think at times we think we're better than we are. As a result we don't come out playing hard. We think we are but there's no intensity.
One lacadaisical or sloppy play leads to another & pretty soon it's a downward spiral.
Then guys try to do it by themselves. No ball movement, poor shot selection & at the same time no intensity on D. Pretty soon it's a loss. Started the same way today, but were able to get our heads out of our asses at the half. 2nd half played hard tough D, moved the ball, took care of it & took good shots. Played the way we are capable of playing.

We’ve played the way we are capable of 9 times already this year . Squeaked out Lehigh. Lost on a decent effort to Depaul. Had 4 bad performances. Some act like we are 1-15.

The problem for RU is the media will keep hammering on the road record and the losses to Depaul, UMASS, and Lafayette.

I think blaming the "media" is kind of a cop out. Those were bad losses (DePaul seems to be okay) and RU will have to overcome them. They've started to.
Not blaming the media for anything. They own those losses. I guess my point is it will take more than 1 road win to overcome them.

I agree with you to some extent. But I don’t think it’s conscious. The team played better game in game out 2 years ago. I think that getting to ncaa has taken a little piece mentally from this team. It’s not easy to get up and kill it every single night. If it was easy penn state and northwestern would be in the dance multiple years in a row too. It’s part of the growing process.

Of course you do. You're in the media. But you also happen to be right lol. 😁 👍

I am a fan who writes blog posts. I have season tickets and cheer my head off. I am not a media member.

I never questioned your loyalty. I know you were voted one I of the 3 Fan HOF members.
However, in today's world being a feature writer for On The Banks is social media. It's ok Dave. I've read your stuff for years.

What is New Media?

New media is any media – from newspaper articles and blogs to music and podcasts – that are delivered digitally. From a website or email to mobile phones and streaming apps, any internet-related form of communication can be considered new media.

Our slow starts are baffling, almost as if we haven’t warmed up properly. Whenever we come out looking cold or lackadaisical in our first 2 or 3 possessions, I would love to see the coaches tell our guys to run a full-court press for a couple of trips, just to get our competitive juices going.

Actually, because we seem to come out cold especially on the road, I would like Pike to start the second team and see what they do as a lesson to the nonchalant of the first team.

The one thing I really wish we would do is steal a page from Kevin bannon’s book and run the first couple of plays of the game to require the ball the ball to go the low block (back then it was for rashod Kent )....and get cliff involved.

Force the game to work from inside out and going to the basket and being phaycal

I couldn't agree more. That way I think the team focuses on getting Omoryi the ball early. I also think during the game he needs more touches. I don't understand why Pike and staff continue to bring him out on the upper block, when we need him down low.

They did that with Johnson also. Don't get it either.
