Sign more talent. Great players don't need a cheering crowd to score. They can score on their own. We don't have the talent the top teams do. That's why they can win on the road. Sure, we'll get the occasional win here and there. But we'll never be able to run off a bunch of wins like Purdue, Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan St do. The talent just isn't there.

Wow. Who knew the secret to winning in sports was getting good players? I think you are onto something that maybe can be bottled and patented!

I never thought about it like that before. It's a great point.

But Pike gets a pass by the majority on this Board who criticize the players.

Pike's a mediocre coach who recruits at an even lower level.....not a good formula for success.

I think it really comes down to people's different styles.....

Types that focus on "what have you done for me lately" are more likely to want to move on from Pike after pitfalls.

Types that default to taking a body of work into account are more likely to defend him after pitfalls.

There you go again after a loss. If Pike was a mediocre coach we would have losing to . 500 home record overall and losing records at home in the Conference. Not this year but the last 2-3 years , the Big 10 has been the toughest conference top to bottom with heavily ranked teams in the top 5-6 and guess what Pike has beaten them all. So your statement is just your continued hate and negative posting about Pike.
Your other point about recruiting rings hollow as well, as you would have to explain how these terrible players with low recruiting grades somehow beat good teams and a lot of the time beat them by a lot. Really. Just go root for another team because Pike will be here a while.

Well, we've made the tournament the last two* years, so I'm not sure what you want us to complain about? I will grant you that this season, while not over, is not looking good. I'll wait until next year before I bash next year's team.

I've NEVER bashed the team.....EVER, I've made candid observations about it's Head Coach who by the way appears to be a very nice guy.

and if ther talent isn't there, which it isn't...who's responsible for the lack of talent....the players or the coach?
Yes the coach. You’re happy I’m even agreeing with you and saying Pike will be in the hot seat if he doesn’t get his recruiting up to his coaching Par.

But not, people don’t go completely overboard after a loss.

So impressive.... You obviously not only earned a bachelor degree, but advanced degrees as well......so impressive. I shared your post with my wife of 30 years, and she's thinking of leaving me because you're so impressive.

Don't bash the team...bash the coach who recruited and is training the team.

On the road, your best players have to lead and play well.
In our case, our two best players have the talent to play at an all conference level.
We need an all-star performance from them because we don’t have the supporting cast to pick up the slack.
All this is obvious and really doesn’t have a thing to do with in game coaching.
There isn’t a substitute pattern, rotation or scheme that would make a difference if those two guys don’t perform

Well, given Pike’s most recent recruiting class, that is a real problem . . . . .

Coach Knight said as much during tonight's Court Club meeting. To be successful, he said Ron and Geo can't have off-nights... and he's told them that.
