No. RU only retires numbers of players who were named to an All-American team. IMHO, a good rule.

Roy was very good as well but I think James was a shade better. We were spoiled at RU to 8 years in a row of those two guys. Great memories. It was too bad that Roy hurt his knee as he was having an outstanding career in the NBA. I think he averaged 19 PPG for Cleveland. Both were first round draft choices but James was first round # 6 and Roy was first round # 20.

It's pretty simple. What a player does in the NBA should have no effect on Rutgers retiring that player's number. A number should only be retired based on what a player did while wearing a Rutgers uniform.
