If there weren’t these ORDERS the crowd would be close to packed tonight.
One thing is for sure. The right Wing is in THIS house, spewing their bs.Hopefully this is shut down & moved over to the CE board ,where this insanity is welcome.
Let's enjoy what should be a great game in front of our home crowd.NO EXCUSES.

its not science based
It’s not your science based.

There are valid arguments to be made. You aren’t making the right ones and you keep creating your own facts that are flat out wrong.

You keep saying masks don’t prevent getting COVID or prevent spread. I don’t know how you can be making those statements. Do you really believe it?

The real argument is do we allow this to play out and not worry about the unvaccinated and the compromised. Do we don’t even bother stopping the spread risking variants that can be worse than Omicron?

I have very mixed feelings.

I'm a scientist/physician and I think that bac is brilliant in many of his posts but this particular area has grey areas and nuances that are just not in his lane.

I think we need these discussions. I was in NYC a few times including a Rangers game and nobody wore masks. Well very few wore them. We want Jersey Mike’s to be a home court advantage right? That means a full house and fans screaming and droplets spreading. We no longer will be told we are killing people if we don’t wear masks. That’s a good thing. Let’s get back to normal and to me that means getting vaccinated which is not fully normal but let’s protect ourselves. It’s the smart thing to do.

so tell me how they can make it a blanket booster mandate for college students....many of which currently have or are coming off covid and in fact some may have covid at the deadline that they have to complete booster to attend schools. I will not even go into how at risk this population actually is

the fact is that their trust in the science has fallen, that is not because of right wing or conspiracy theories, its because of their really bad messaging and inability to communicate to the public.

yes I do...why do you think that Leanna Wen finally told us....so wait cloth masks were perfectly acceptable before but now she said the thing that some of us already knew. Keep hiding behind the mask to get your way out of a pandemic. If you are sick, wear your mask absolutely that has always been the case. Care to check out any mask study pre 2020 and I wont even go into what Fauci said in March 2020 but more importantly Feb 2020 to someone he was talking to in an email who he obviously would not have to lie to so he could protect supplies

5K or less, hopefully I am pleasantly surprised

No concessions and vaccination or test mandate for kids will torpedo alot of attendance

the concession thing needs to be figured out. is RU the only school in the country doing this????:
About 30% of 5-to-65-year-olds in NJ are unvaccinated, so the vax mandate could cut attendance about 30% right there.

Plus there is a lot of covid going around, so infected people and those in direct contact with them would not attend.

And then there are a lot of people with conditions that put them at high risk for more serious outcomes if they get infected. (I am in that group. And with the high number of covid cases at my work and my wife's, we decided to skip tonight's game. However I did sell our tickets, at a loss, so at least someone will be sitting in our seats.)

Add that students are not on campus, and those are the big drivers that will keep people away.

Very few people will stay away because of lack of concessions and mask mandate, even if they don't like the rules.

Wearing a mask for 2 hours is not that big of a deal (and plenty of people wear them for longer in their jobs). And most people can manage to go without eating for 2 hours. Worst case scenario, you plan ahead and eat in your car before entering the arena. (And conversely, you would lose other people who would be uncomfortable attending without a mask mandate. And you probably wouldn't have the concession ban if it weren't for the special kind of ******* who used food as a loophole around the mask mandate, like the guy who sits a few rows in front of me, who wears his mask around his chin, and every time security tells him to pull it up, he would take a sip of beer and claim he's drinking.)

Agree with much of what you said here #s but for me personally definitely would not attend with the mask requirement and lack of concessions even if I wasn’t being extra cautious which I am for personal reasons. Going to a game is supposed to be enjoyable.

I find it shocking that lack of concessions would be a deciding factor for anyone to attend or not.

have you watched people eat at the RAC...anyone with kids, food is a necessity. It absolutely will keep people away that and that 80% of kids under 12 in NJ are not vaccinated

It’s not all political. Yes NJ and RU are liberal but this is about being cautious and covering our backsides IMHO. God forbid something happens to a student or multiple students. It seems like overkill to me but my company and many others are doing the same.

But they are opening themselves up to liability to vaccine injury.

I went to the Purdue game and kept my mask on the entire game, with nothing to eat or drink. Didn't impact my enjoyment of the game. I had a blast.

Oh come on I hear a lot of pu**ies right now saying they can’t watch a basketball game for two hours without food or alc. like come on you’re an alcoholic and need help if you can’t survive two hour Entertaining game. I’m not calling out ppl who don’t want to go due to having Covid or haven’t gotten their vaccine yet. But come on really complaining that there’s no food or alc over our Rutgers team in which need fans in order to win haha. If I can go and suffer two hours with a mask and no food and alcohol anyone can.

I agree with a light crowd. And a lot of Michigan fans. Let's hope they all forgot their vax cards and our frontline workers tell them to go kick rocks.

I am happy for you! Not for me though. As to Purdue I watched at home because I was sick from my booster lol! Crazy times.

I hear you but I drive an hour each way and wear glasses so watching with a mask all night is a non starter. If I was still in college hell yea I would be there.

The game is two hours. That doesn’t include driving and walking etc. no outside food either.

Plus its dinner time

wait so now we are supposed to believe that the majority of these current cases are not Omnicron
At the game under the basket so excuse brevity. The short answer is still alot of delta out there and other variants waiting to happen. I would provide a longer more complete & complex answer but as the saying goes " if your mind is made up then no answer will suffice." ie I'd rather have 10000 people - students "overprotected " than have 10000 trying to prove to me they just got over Omni covid and here's my home antigen test and note to prove it" not practicle, not happening. Lots of pitfalls.

Depends on which strain of covid u got.
Delta and predecessor infection does not offer protection from Omni.
Omni does seem to offer some protection against others. We cannot do sequencing on every one. Beware of nuances
You are right on-- there are studies from South Africa saying just that,-- never listen to BAc he's FOS
