After sending students home after 900, yes 900 fully jabbed and many with “booster” shots came down with Covid.

Some of the more schools in more backward thinking states are likely to make these same moves sadly.

I agree this is an overreaction. Omicron, while very contagious, does not seem to be life threatening for people who have been vaxxed.

I think this sends the wrong message. Less educated people will use this as a talking point that "see, vaccines don't work".

Regardless, Cornell is a private entity free to make its own decisions.

There is seriously something wrong with you. Like I understand and respect you have your views, but you really have to spew them out everytime this comes up

Its a thread about cancelling games. Ill speak without your permission. It only gets political when certain posters come here and start dictating what can and cannot be talked about and then it devolves into a pissing match. Lets just keep this to the thread topic right now

Does Rutgers test? Are any of the major schools testing? I am asking because its pretty impossible that there have been no positive covid tests in college hoops or football over the past few months

A lot of spewing goes around on this board on a variety of topics ranging from Rutgers sports to fast food hamburgers to advice on dealing with to neighbors etc.

That said, someone who offers their opinions 20+ times a day for 20+ years is gonna spew much more than most AND is clearly in need of a lot of attention.

You probably shouldn’t make decisions based
on what ignorant people may think…

Ivy schools were the first to bail on tourney play in 20. Some consider them thought leaders. This is a bad precedent. Princeton now sending students home. This will snowball.

Hahahahaha, they need to just shut down ivy league schools. Theyve totally lost all prestige they had and their credibility is sooo shot after the past couple years. Theyre expensive indoctrination camps for privileged babies
Lost all prestige to who exactly? The sports community?

It is all about money. No one wants to be the school that has a kid die of COVID. They can send kids home and keep all of the money they charged them for housing.

Enlighten me… I can tell you the prestige of Harvard and Princeton is doing just fine.

The average person isn’t sitting at home thinking, man Harvard is going downhill fast, I’ll send my kids to Liberty instead.

Interesting how long this thread as remained open.

I guess in the eyes of the mods, thread about vaccines only become “political” once some “ill-informed”, biased, drug-developing PhD weighs in with some scientific data.

If 900 fully vaxxed kids many of whom were "boosted", it's sort of a natural question for any inquisitive person.

Id rather go to trade school than go to the majority of ivy’s, I think it provides a better ROI at this point. A girl I went to high school with who went to columbia is a barista lol, one who went to upenn has taken off the past 3 years to “pursue music” and one kid I went to Hs with who went to princeton with has a nice banking job but one that anyone who goes to RU can get

How come only what you approve of that follows along with groupthink that has got it wrong for 20 months is allowed to be posted

Let there be discussion on all sides because reality shows "they" didn't get it right

The thread gets locked because people start virtue signaling throwing labels around instead of having honest discussion

Doesn't seem like those restrictions work now does it?
No it dosent. But that is why I asked. They were as prepared as they could be. If the majority of the cases show no symptoms or there are little to no hospitalizations then what? Maybe it’s time we start learning to live with covid and drop restrictions and stop testing healthy people.

There is nothing to respect about his views. He’s an absolute idiot and he was single-handily the biggest pusher of vaccine disinfo on this board. He then has the gall to tell other to take personal responsibility. He’s also a big time misogynist and homophobe.

I may disagree with bac on his views about covid, but where is THAT coming from?

Blah blah blah. Translation “You’re right Scarlet1984. We don’t agree with RU#’s and he hurts our feelings because it seems like he is talking down to us, so we have to get the thread locked.”

But Okies post is for the ages. Im saving this one

He obviously wanted to get reported to get the thread locked but i will let him have his meltdown in full glory

The Omicron variant essentially bypasses the protection the vaccines give.
The Delta and versions before being vax protected against, but not this mutation.
So this is a safety precaution being implemented just before the holiday break.
Students would have left for home a little after this was put in place anyway
Seems like some don't look at the whole picture but find a part of it to make everything look bad.

Sad that the hate and fear crowd tries to make being safe look foolish and gives partial information , because the whole story doesn't fit their agenda,so the public is misinformed on the issue.

Billions of people on earth and ONE total combined death associated with omnicron. For those keeping track at home, omnicron has killed less people than alec baldwin and ted kennedy. Oh and yes, college kids arent at risk, vaxxed or not.

That’s good news, but there's data showing that the Omicron variant is far more contagious than any version of the virus to date and it can evade some immune protection from vaccines and prior infection.
Remember the more a virus preads, the greater the chances of a mutation and the next mutation might be a killer

He knew that already. He has a PhD in chemistry and developed groundbreaking drugs for a major pharma company.
