His defense is atrocious , and he’s a turnover machine and ball stopper so I’d rather ride the younger guys at this point

Against an athletic team, I'm glad Pike saw what everyone else could see. Miller and Mag needed to be out there in front of Paul. He was just too slow to be out there with the ball in his hands

SHU did a good job hitting contested shots off the dribble. SHU had very few easy looks tonight. Kudos to them for hitting tough looks.

..and he’s back to passing up open shots so he becomes almost useless. 1 point and 1 TO in 16 minutes was his contribution. Zero FG attempts.

Geo should be the one sitting, not Paul
Not in this game. Paul scored one point. No assists. Did absolutely nothing positive. Geo at least scored in double digits. His defense wasn’t good, but nobody available to replace him would’ve been better on defense.

Honestly - neither of them played well but the real issue was that Agee stretch. Pike has to stop throwing in a garbage line up at the end of the first half to rest Cliff. He needs to find a combination that doesn’t result in 14-0 swings. We’re not good enough to overcome that. Dreadful.

This. Agee should not even see the court until he learns to play basketball.

I agree. Agee is just a bundle of nonsense out there. Nothing good happens and lots bad happens. Just use Hyatt as a backup center and hope for the best.

At this level, Paul is who he is. He is not a dynamic athlete or a great shooter. He is not a good defensive player. Time to use him as first or second option off of the bench.
He’s always been a bench player..which tells you all you need to know about Pike’s recruiting. He could start…and would actually be more valuable…If he played with better players, since he’s willing and capable of doing the dirty work.. He can make players around him better, but on this team, he’s just another incomplete player on team full of them.

It was just a bad matchup for him tonight. So you know has very quick guards and they presented difficult matchups for him. He’ll see plenty of minutes. AG however should see 2 to 3 minutes a game and I’m not sure what he’s doing theat luke Nathan couldn’t do

Don’t you mean he can be serviceable with better players around him?

tonight he belonged there, there will be other matchups where Pike right or wrong will rely heavily on him

Yes hopefully he finds some groove in the later games but rn Geo needs to practice with his team on actual plays

Mulcahy and Myles had a great rapport on the court. It’s non existent with Cliff. Paul has struggled the whole season.

PM has high bball IQ. He doesn’t have D1 athleticism and shot.
Which is sad because if Agee has great ball IQ I don’t even think he would be athletic enough to even make it off the bench still. Shows how much recruiting hurt us.

Keep saying this

You cannot play geo and Paul ...two sub par
Defensive guards

Only can play one at a time
But Paul brings absolutely nothing on the offensive end the ball stops in his hand he can’t create his own shot and doesn’t even shoot when he has an open shot

And Paul’s passing has regressed from last year. He had some amazing passes and assists last year. The changes he needs to make if he is bringing the ball up is to look to pass the ball after crossing mid court and not dribble into a trap. And when he is open in a good position to take the shot. The other thing missing from last was his aggressiveness on going for rebounds, diving for balls and mixing it up.

Every team we play has quick guards.

He’s playing out of position.
Paul is a pesky, underrated rebounder who plays good helpside defense witb quick hands, gets to loose balls, and gets under the opponents skin.
From the wing on offense he can use his gifted passing skills and basketball IQ to his advantage.
Should never be at the top of the key on offense or defense

Guy needs to shoot (and make his shots.) I’m sure the scouting report on him says passes first and probes. That only works if he’s a scoring threat and people actually buys that he’s gonna shoot. Zero field goal attempts tonight! How can a guard play 15 minutes and not take a shot! Jalen may not take much shots, but he’s out there specifically for his defense. The vision of Paul was supposed to be our floor general. When he’s not confident enough to take a wide open shot, we don’t need that lack of self-confident energy.

I had a customer from Bayonne at the bar yesterday talking about Paul. He said Paul is too slow to be a point, not quick and can't shoot. Paul doesn't have a real position on the court. He is the type of player who is good to bring off the bench and give you some hustle minutes.

Agee is terrible. I have zero patience with big men who don't crash the boards and try to play D. Agee does neither. Rebounding and playing defense are all about effort. Agee needs to sit. And Reiber looks small and physically outmatched every time he is on the court. And he doesn't look like he has any skills.
