Hall didn’t shoot much better than us, in fact the percentages were very similar. We were out toughed, on lose balls rebounds and the hustle plays. We have a center who can jump out of the gym but can’t get a rebound, our guards are taller across the board yet we continue to get out rebounded game after game. It’s just comes down to being tougher and wanting it more than your opponent and we didn’t tonight.
Also, Pike needs to figure out what to do with Geo. The offense has looked way better with him out of the lineup. Purdue there was plenty of back door cuts and off ball movement/screens. Tonight, back to 1v1 iso ball and everyone else standing around. That works when you have super athletic and quick guards like JY and MM but we don’t. This offense needs to actually runs sets to get good looks.

It is so easy to blame hustle and effort but sometimes that is really speed and strength. The other guys just get to the ball faster or are taller, stronger, etc. I thought our effort was fine - Caleb’s effort game to game is incredible. I felt the game turned when Cliff went out. I wonder what Agee’s plus, minus was. if we had a back up center this would have been a game.

Agee is the softest big man I’ve ever seen. Period. Out of all the games and minutes he’s played, he’s only topped out at 3 rebounds max in a game. Someone needs to get him riled up. Or an energy drink. Something…
I agree. That turnover up top where he had zero awareness kind of summed up the issue for me. I actually think he could be semi productive if he was mentally tougher.

He's not soft, he seems pretty strong. He's just short for a center in power 5. He's probably 6'7 and not very quick or explosive or long. He plays hard.

I agree that Agee doesn’t help us AT ALL. And if Rieber can’t knock him out of the lineup we need to just go small, give his minutes to Hyatt, and match up with other teams as best we can.

This was something I came away with after the first half. Told my friend that we were being outhustled and outmuscled. We were just so casual with the ball, on layups and passes.

This was a game where you had to fight for every inch and not take anything for granted. Even after we picked it up for a bit in the second half, at the end we were still walking up the ball and wasting clock.

The hit on Miller was a cheap shot and should have been whistled (and possibly flagrant), but I'm sure he will remember it as his "welcome to the rivalry" moment going forward. That's the sort of chip you need on your shoulders in this game, and most of our guys outside of McConnell didn't have it.

Maybe the players didn't really see it, but you would think it wouldn't go over well with our team having that done to our small freshman guard.

Amen regarding Geo.
