More great news for RUWBB. Can't wait to see these young ladies in Rutgers uniforms.

They both seem like perfect fits with the core that we will return next year. Now we could use another skilled post to go alongside Tiya, Sakima and Chyna. Maybe we get Del Rosario from Trenton Catholic to stay home and join these two stellar recruits.

The recruiting front looks stable.

These two girls are excellent recruits for the future. Let’s hope they stay for 4 years and don’t use the transfer portal. Congrats to the staff .

It’s only one new commit. Antonia has been committed here for at least 1 1/2 years. Looking at the top 100 girls for 2022 there are only four uncommited left

so it looks like 3-4 grad transfers / transfers again

Will Bates be a forward or possibly a post player? Seems like two nice prospects. Good job coaches.

She has sprouted up to 6'3" but still has a perimeter player's game. She's not really built to play down on the block and has been a wing player for most of her young career. Has played some PG at some point of her HS career, IIRC. Perfect as small forward.

Provides another floor spacer with her long range shooting. Can handle the ball and pass pretty well also. Probably needs to strengthen the handle for Big Ten level competition. As she strengthen her body, she can be a really good one.

It’s still 2 recruits. Bates comes in for next year with Smikle and because she committed last year means absolutely nothing. She is in this upcoming class. You understand how this works?

This is about the two signing their LOI and as you know, until a player sighs an LOI they are not fully committed.
That's good news that is being shared to those who might not have known about the signing.
Remember just verbally committing means absolutely nothing if the recruit decides to sign their LOI with another program.
It means something when they sign a LOI with Rutgers honoring their verbal commit to the program.

His post to me was claiming that the player (Bates ) who committed 1 1/2 years ago does not count as a 2021-2022 commit . I don’t care if she pledged as an 8th grader . They both go toward scholarships for 2022.

It’s funny. On the men’s board it’s all “championship teams are built from the transfer portal, you can’t wait to develop recruits anymore the game has passed Pike by” and then on here, it’s “guess we will have to learn all new transfers again, will never build team chemistry that way, wahh”
To each their own lol. Just win baby

Yeah, I just look at what teams have done to try to secure a spot at the top of the women's game and have a chance at a National Championship. Teams are filling their needs through the portal.

Just look at UConn and SCar, both of whom have the top Recruiting classes every year and get all McD HS All-Americans (whole roster of A-Americans). Yet they still felt the need to take on players that could put them over the top in Dorka Juhasz and Kamilla Cardoso. Look at the effect Cardoso has had on freeing up Aaliyah Boston who can now show her versatility from post to three point line because you can't really double either of them.

UConn, as was stated at the end of the last season, jumped on Juhasz as soon as she hit the portal because they had a glaring need with Ododa not really getting it done last year. She has yet to get acclimated with them so far but it's early still.

Knight Time can tell you about Arizona and the portal. I don't know that they are playing as well without the transfers.

If our transfers continue to come together and win, we should all be grateful that they came and buoyed the program after loosing our cornerstone pg recruit and ZB. Them winning will help our recent recruits' ability to bring others with them.

Do you think CVS has the energy and smarts to navigate the egos of the portal at this juncture of her career. Sure she will get some but similar to what we recently got.

Smarts? Probably
Energy? Does not appear likely
Desire? Doubt it

…her recruiting model is passé. She can’t even rely on the “hall of fame cache” as that takes sustained success. Hot shot kids today are into social media, and all the trappings that come with that at the big time college level. None of them remember 2007. Why is Geno still successful even though he’s now an older coach? Their arena is lousy with championship banners and just a final four appearance is considered a bad season.

Put that into a neat algorithm and the answer = a moribund program in dire need of a COMPLETE overhaul. In the meantime expect several years of mediocrity or worse and no post season play.

I think she has the smarts, but jury is out on the energy.
But with her needing time away from the program just before RU started tourney play in 2019 and this year's LOA, the question should be: will the players entering the portal feel CVS will be coaching if they transfer to Rutgers and if HS recruits will think Stringer will be their HC all through their RUWBB career

Both groups might also wonder if CVS would let them know if she needed to take time away from they program again .
No one knows for sure if the players that transferred out knew Stringer wasn't going to coach this year and if the players that transferred in were informed that Vivian was taking a LOA

Not sure these most recent posts should be on this thread. As fans I think, as MAD stated earlier, we keep positive posts just that.

Are we trying to talk up bad news with these two nice recruits?

These posts about CVS seem more appropriate for the CVS thread. Let's not tie the signing of these young ladies to all of your questions about CVS. They are the most recent great news for RUWBB. Don't take that away by talking them into leaving before they get here.

You're right, conversion about the two new recruits got sidetracked into talking about CVS and other school's recruiting classes.
But think the sidetrack was mainly recruiting related.

good observation

i went to the Rutgers Prep/Vianney game yesterday morning. she wants nothing to do with being anywhere near the paint.

The Junior Zoe Brooks from Vianney is who you want, her game will translate next level. she's a stud.

Really nice person, and well respected high school coach. But, at 60+ you don't just become a coach in the B1G 10 for your first college job.
