And he’s 110% spot on.
Zero effort and no half court offense.
Zero effort and no half court offense.
Probably more than team wins . Maybe he’s a business geniusWhat a joke this team is. How many shirts has Geo sold?
Its hard to run a half court offense with a absence of shooters.Illinois put a taller defender against Harper which left Rutgers without a scoring threat on the court.Hummel continues to bash the half court offense in the post game.
I understand. Pike recruited these guys. Its hard to run a half court offense with a absence of shooters.Illinois put a taller defender against Harper which left Rutgers without a scoring threat on the court.
It will if they’re you’re two best players and the remaining guys stinkSomething is amiss.
When you loose two players it shouldn’t destroy your program
I love it when announcers that don’t see us all the time like Chrispin and Hummel basically say the same thing. They do a million games and watch a lot of college hoops and have no bias. They call us out for the same thing ! At some point something has to change coaching wise ; can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different resultsIt was so obvious tonight our lack of effort that the announcers questioned their heart and then slammed lack of any sets. Indictment of Pike. We have the athletes but we don’t run. N
Also, PAUL DRIBBLES THE AIR OUT OF THE BALL!!
Purdue will be fugly.
We should have been in the Sweet 16 if not for an aberration of the past 5 minutes against Houston. It will if they’re you’re two best players and the remaining guys stink
Ehh... the first 35 minutes against Houston we an aberration too, it's not like we were expected to win that game. Still, we were a top 32 team last year and the difference between that and this is still more than those two players. We should have been in the Sweet 16 if not for an aberration of the past 5 minutes against Houston.
You don’t get there with 3 out of 5 stinking
This why a lot of posts last year were saying good season, but a massive failure not to capitalize on the opportunity because we won’t be back soonWe should have been in the Sweet 16 if not for an aberration of the past 5 minutes against Houston.
You don’t get there with 3 out of 5 stinking

Pike did IMO.They choked
Yes, That was the biggest reason but MJ missed a dunk and other players fell short on a few plays.Pike did IMO.
The team was playing downhill and angry. He put the brakes on them.
Well there was some effort for some time.. but, yeah, there was some "quit" too.And he’s 110% spot on.
Zero effort and no half court offense.
I’ll accept the possibility Pike believed this is his best team. He’s an upbeat optimist who believes the best about people. He needs to temper this optimism going forward and find players he doesn’t need to develop but that can already play - if it’s not too late to do this. And if he is capable of doing that. I am a pessimist on both those counts. Sigh..IMO, Pike called this his best team because he believed that RHJ and Geo would each be scoring high teens or even 20 per game. In college that makes a team very dangerous. And, he figured he’s got an athletic freak at center with enough small pieces around them to do some things.
This issue is that RHJ and Geo aren’t those players. So the entire design of this team has failed. I’m not dumping on them — this is who they have always been. I assume Pike thought they’d both take a big step forward and dominate.
I wouldn't put much stock in what any of these coaches say for public consumption. They get way too much latitude in these pressers with the media.I’ll accept the possibility Pike believed this is his best team. He’s an upbeat optimist who believes the best about people. The media bought that stuff though . They get some criticism tooI wouldn't put much stock in what any of these coaches say for public consumption. They get way too much latitude in these pressers with the media.
It’s becoming more and more evident that with a few exceptions (Johnson and EugeneIMO, Pike called this his best team because he believed that RHJ and Geo would each be scoring high teens or even 20 per game. Bingo. This is spot on.I am no basketball genius, but it has been obvious for years that we struggle in half court offense situations. Its about running plays with motion, on and off ball screens and crisp passing to get good shots. Yes the impact of this deficiency gets minimized when guys are hitting shots but that does not always make them good shots. And we are not good enough to overcome this on a consistent basis against good teams. If we had tremendous athletes then maybe you just run it up and down but we don't particularly this year so we will struggle more nights than not. Ironically I have had the same gripe with CVS. Its fine to emphasize defense and you should bring that every night but you need to have a basic identity and core competency at the other end as well.
It's been a problem. It hasn't been the biggest problem.effort has been the problem all season long save for a game and a half
