They’ve played well in spurts. Shown very good signs, albeit streaky. Starting to run a fast break here and there. Pretty good D for the most part, it’s the consistency in scoring, offense rebounding, silly fouls that have hurt them the most.

I think the importance of this game will not be lost on any of the players and coaches. They know the season is at a tipping point. This team has the experience and talent, even without Geo, to win. Jones should start to find his range. Pike now knows what combos work. RHJ hopefully is recovering and will be more effective.

I’ll be there in 216 doin what I’ve always done. Support. But tonight, they get over the hump and win. Clemson is not the same team as last years, neither are we, but we have enough to win.

Pike now knows what combos work. You may have lost me on this one. I still think Pike is struggling with his rotations.

I do agree with Zappa that we need Miller out there at PG and also being a smaller quicker guard. Lets see what he has.

We can use Miller on Honor and against Illinois if Carbelo plays, against Ivey of Purdue and Akins of Seton Hall. I believe he can play a role in guys his own size or smaller. I hope he finally gets a chance.
You have attended some practices. What do you think? Can he give us quality minutes?

Like certain other sports, passion plays a strong role in performance. IMO, it was hard to develop passion (fire) against the likes of Lehigh, Lafayette, etc. However, tonight it's a notable sports school from one of the best conferences in America. I think the fire will be there for RU and they'll jell as a team and win.

Lets be extremely clear here.

Can his offense be any worse than any of the other players actually playing right now?? Unless he is throwing up airballs like a certain someone than you put him on the floor. No one claimed for him to be a 3pt shooting expert like Palmquist, which again I'll reserve comment on.

RHJ cannot disappear in 2nd half again. last two games totals in 2nd half: 2/12 shooting (1H 6/9)

maybe the back is really is an issue

only attempted 3 shots in 2H vs UMass

When Miller’s ready (and Geo is healthy), I’d love to see something like this lineup:
1. Geo, Miller
2. Caleb, Jones
3. Paul, Hyatt
4. Ron, Mag
5. Cliff, Agee

I admire your optimism, but I'm having a hard time believing that this team can put it all together after the way it's played in the first six games.

I suppose the first 30 minutes of the UMass game can give us some hope that they're starting to figure something out, but unless this team starts shooting better from deep, I'm afraid it won't matter. You just can't beat most teams shooting 20-25% from the 3-pt land.

Pike has also declared that publicly. What hasn’t been mentioned is anything about his offense and clearly it’s not ready for prime time yet.
His offense can’t be worse than McConnell’s (that’s factual). And if he plays tenacious D, that’s more than McConnell is doing. We struggle with 3 pt defense so I would like to see Miller out there taking McConnell’s minutes

Why do we NEED Miller? If we really NEED Miller we are in trouble. We all heard he can defend but that’s all we have heard. Our biggest problem with a scoring.

Good call - I felt similarly, although didn't post about it - seemed like we were just ready, finally.

Defense, rebounding, grinding it out, terrible free throw shooting down the stretch.

THAT is Rutgers basketball, and I loved watching it tonight.

I have stated all along that Miller can help us and he did tonight. I just wish he played the end game with Lafayette and U Mass. Now hopefully he will get some more time moving forward.

The worst kind of so-called fans. You two clowns should just go cheer for another team.
The team suffers back to back heart breaking losses to trash teams and I’m a clown because I’m negative. Lol okay. My bad for not being excited about a team on a 3 game losing streak to DePaul, Umass, and Lafayette. Yes, I’m just the worst type of fan. The win makes those losses sting even more. Glad to see they finally showed up. Hate to break it to you, but it’s gonna be too little too late.
Can’t believe Pike was going to redshirt Miller. He’s as good as advertised on the defensive end. Yet, he’s been riding the bench on a team that hast played a lick of defense the first 6 games.

Yes he should have played earlier. Stop looking back and look ahead! We will now have to beat a couple teams we aren’t “supposed” to beat to make up for for those early loses…who knows, Purdue could be one of them! 👍

This is it
They are interchangeable… Miller will not play more than a few minutes until he gets more solid with the handle and offense… Caleb and Paul will be primarily ones even when Geo is back. Frees Geo up more. Geo minutes at the one didn’t work early on.

I guess then that the theory is that Pike wanted to redshirt Jalen and finally decided he couldn’t. Otherwise sitting him those six games then bringing him in vs Clemson makes no sense.
