That defensive whiz in him is shining through. Defense wins …… Oh wait, scratch that.

Yes ,the offense was ineffective down the stretch. The game, however, was lost by woeful defense against the 3 point shot,Rutgers scored more than enough points to win the game but couldn't defend without fouling.

This was a horrendous day for football and mens basketball.

The fact that he was able to get that good of a look going the length of the floor with 4 seconds is embarrassing. No one picked him up until he crossed mid court.

This wasn’t Pikes fault. It was the players fault. He is trying. No one is playing defense. He is forced to play lineups that can’t shoot.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frankly, no one picked up ANYWHERE. He just dribbled downcourt and drained it. Mag was like 8 feet from him.

Went completely away from what was successful and played perimeter ball the entire last 10 minutes.
PM”s last bucket done the whole half and we win by 20.
He either gets fouled or dishes…. But no.
Run clock and play perimeter ball.
Looser coaching

You are not wrong, but offense was not the problem. It was the total lack of defense in the second half that was the problem. You can’t give up 16 3 pointers on 50% shooting in a game to anyone and expect to win, especially on the road!

So wrong Greene.
He could have demanded his players do exactly what PM did on our last possession the last 10 minutes and draw fouls.
It was Pike who wanted to pass around the perimeter, use up clock and take bad shots.
His fault

UMASS made adjustments.

Blame Pike the roster maker. He is trying to get his team to play the game the right way. He is just running out of players to try.

Our defense is beyond bad. We have to get ready for B1G, defense is essential.

They made no adjustments, they would have had to foul

he is putting ineffective offensive players out there in exchange for what exactly....not one guy on this team plays defense...loyalty is everyrthing and thats why bad offensive players continue to see major minutes

Get ready for teams twice as talented and have far better players than the 3 we just lost to...lol

I can’t argue this. Forgetting the steals Caleb was bad in D today. Paul was Paul.

the argument is Jones to play…..and I get it
The counter argument is this is the time to program Jones to be a complete player. Allowing him to play without D sends a terrible message.

I have zero issues with Hyatt being a 2Nd Half DNP. I am absolutely sick of him defensively and he isn’t much better offensively

Starting to look that way.

I am starting to come to the realization this could be a 70-80% roster turnover next year.

I almost feel like I am playing 5 card draw and my hand is an ace (cliff) and a 3,6,8, and a 10 all of different suits. The ace could fall out of my hand and be discarded by mistake

none of them were playing D....we had a stretch where although there was a funky lineup it was not doing that bad, we actually stopped their 3s, however Palmquist fouled on 3s.

The issue is that Umass defense isnt good, all we had to do was get some baskets at times, their zone wasnt Jim Boeheim. Our defense was bad and couldnt get a stop but you beat a UMass team by continuing to score, we didnt, we became passive yet again wasting 30 seconds off the shot clock at least 3 times...its by design..thats how Pike wants it

quite frankly i would have tried Agee and Cliff for a stretch. He played Palm too long and totally forgot about Jones. Mag was great but if you are counting on Mag to be your offense late which we did, that really says it all

He didn’t forget about Jones. He got torches on D and was taken out.

Exactly. We are putting our “good defenders “ out there and they are getting getting torched . Either they aren’t good defenders , your d scheme sucks , or play your better offensive players because what’s the difference and at least they can score
wait who was getting torched exactly......they shot 16-29 on 3s.

we only had one basket in between Jadens at 7:14 to Mags at 45 sec....one fg against a bad defense for 6:30 minutes

terrible D all you want, but we lost because we couldnt make a basket in that stretch..in fact just 1-7 fg

We really need a true PG. I am sick and tired of Paul Or Caleb sitting on the top of the key waiting for 4 secs and then someone finally playing hero ball. If Miller wasn't going to play this year, Pike needed to grab a PG via the portal.
