Funny how that seems to happen.Good coaches usually have good teams
Me too.In 1979 (?) I saw in-person a Valvano-coached Iona spank #1 (?) and eventual national champ Louisville at a rocking full house MSG.
I put question marks where I wasn’t certain.Me too.
But correct me if I’m wrong.
Louisville was #2 at the time.
The other game before Iona vs Louisville was undefeated #1 De Paul vs Wagner.
We watched Dr Dunkenstein on Louisville and Mark Aquire, Terry Cummings on DexPaul
NBA double headers were common at MSG in the 60sI put question marks where I wasn’t certain.
As a kid, also remember going to a MSG game where Toledo of Ohio knocked off #1 NYU. Two of the Toledo players were the Triplett brothers. One of the Triplett’s (Mel?) had a solid NFL career, much of it with the NY Giants. Barry Kramer (?) was a huge star for NYU. Happy Hairston was a teammate. Tremendous players.
At the time my family lived in an apartment in West New York, NJ. One of the other tenants worked at Madison Square Garden and gave our family tickets for all kinds of unsold-out MSG events. We went to the circus, dog shows, Holiday on Ice, opening night hoops (college and pro), WHL and NHL hockey games, etc. MSG always wanted the local newspapers to report that events opened to a full house. One of my favorite memories as a kid was standing nearby as Wilt Chamberlain warmed up for a game. He was huge and perfectly proportioned and palmed a basketball like a grape in his hands.
Zappaa,NBA double headers were common at MSG in the 60s
The Knicks would play first, followed by two out of town teams..
The Knicks would also be part of a double header with the Globetrotters playing first
Great coaches have good teams because of recruiting and player development.Pitino is one of the best regardless of the school he is coaching.Good coaches usually have good teams
It should be us, but we’re scared of success here.A program with balls is gonna hire pitino and win big.
It's time we sell our soles to the Devil. Everything he used to do which is illegal is now legal. Well except the hookers part, but I'm sure he'll get a Gentlemen's club to sponsor us.Beat #10 Alabama
Not sure what took me so long....time to put you on ignore. It should be us, but we’re scared of success here.
Worst part is, we’re going to dick around with Pike for a few years and miss out on him because of it.
Then in 10 years we’ll talk about how we could have had Pitino, but Rutgers wanted to give Pike one more year. I’ve seen this story before.
That's a fvcking awesome childhood and I'm envious. My Mom took us to some sports events and fun sh*t but nothing like yours. I didn't realize it at the time but most of the things we did were educational experiences. Gettysburg, Mystic Seaport, Broadway, Valley Forge, museums and crap like that. We drove in the station wagon everywhere.I put question marks where I wasn’t certain.

Iona already didA program with balls is gonna hire pitino and win big.
Ahh yes, the ole “I don’t agree with you so I’ll silence you” technique. Had to make sure you announced it to the rest of the board first too, right? Not sure what took me so long....time to put you on ignore.
1000000+It should be us, but we’re scared of success here.

I was hoping to see Iona in the Final game.Iona loses to a good Belmont 72-65. I think they may get Kansas today in the third place game
