Pretty clear that Pikiel's in ability to recruit players that are top tier means we are not even a Patriot League level team.

Pike is the problem. He had a good two year run. Now it’s done. Get me a big time coach who can recruit.

I like Pike, but believe that his coaching and recruiting philosophies needed to progressively evolve. They haven't.
Pike is toast, I know it's an early call but its all downhill from here. Zero recruiting = zero results.

Yep; I’ve said this in multiple threads . Kids don’t want to play in a boring offensive system where we don’t run anything and don’t push the tempo. Playing good d , rebounding and effort will only take you so far and we don’t even do that anymore
If 45 and 33 were on our team, I bet they could get minutes. Why don’t we ever recruit shooters? You can’t tell me guys like that wouldn’t play for the big ten if offered.

the product has been so bad this year combined with the bad recruiting makes it hard to disagree. He’s going to have work hard to retain the few pieces we have in the off-season and hit the portal hard to survive
In all seriousness… Ron, Geo, Caleb, Reiber, Agee, Palmquist, Cliff, and Nathan could or will all be gone next year.
The only ones I fully expect back are Paul, Hyatt, Mag, Miller and Jaden.

I wish it wasn't the case, really liked Pike but this plus the bizarre media crusade he went on in preseason about seals it for me.
A lot of non big 10 players on the roster. Get some city kids that can ball. There are so many good basketball players in this area. Mag,Palm,& Reiher not even D1 players. Inexcusable to

Transfer portal will be his only way to fix recruiting fast. He will have to change his approach fast. RU will have plenty of playing time and shots to be taken next year. Next year core could be Paul, Cliff, Hyatt and Jones. Assuming none of them leave and ya Never can say never. pike could legit offer two transfers starter minutes just from lack of a roster
When it comes to recruiting, some have said “in Pike I trust”. I wonder how they feel now….lol
nah...mag is a high D1 backup for sure and the other 2 are legit bench guys on low D1.but they should not be getting minutes for a B1G team

If that scenario plus cliff happens I am extremely bullish for next year. Beyond excited.
You need a top notch assistant who can attract kids as well. We don't have that type of assistant - nor do we have an offense that will attract kids.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Jones is gone too.
The real bad signs occur if the team starts leaking at the sides—that is, not only is the recruiting of new talent bad, but we start losing the good ones that we already had—e.g., Cliff, maybe Jones. Heck, you could argue that this has already been happening with Eugene, Myles, Young, etc.
Pikiell has to change his transfer portal approach if recruiting is going to continue like this. I don't want to hear that everyone only talks about how many points they're gonna score. We need guys who can score and managing egos is in the job description.
I don’t think Pike is the guy for managing egos. He seems to coddle certain players and the chemistry has been an issue for a few years now. He appears to be too concerned with being their friend when he is the adult in the room.

You can sell me all the talk BIG guard, versatile player, blah, blah, blah, this and that, we are a tall clunky Wing heavy team with little depth at guard or center. There is a reason why FB player play one position in HS and get moved to another in college, All I see is an over balance in Forwards pretending to be other positions they aren't.
Only solution is design A 1 Guard 3 Forward 1 Center offensive system Ohio St and Mich St has been successful with over the years.

Spot on comment.Scoring is the most important part of a basketball game.Top tier recruits expect to play right away and if that makes players on the current roster upset ,then improve your performance or sit on the bench.
Thank god we didn’t upset any of the guys part of this train wreck. I’d hate to do that. It’s pretty evident now why JY and Tez left
