Was flipping through the channels and came across this game on ESPN. That high octane Dana Altman offense has 15 points in the first half. Reminds me of the Rutgers' woeful offense with a lot of 1 on 1 and dribbling so far. Let's see if they can pick up things in the 2nd half.

I’ve watched two Oregon games. The first one I watched they scored 18 in the first half (BYU). This time they scored 15.

They have plenty of pieces but it very much seems like they are still trying to figure their offense out.

At least JY has good positive body language...unlike that Geo Baker kid who I guess is some kind of team cancer. Wish we could swap out Geo for Young so we could get some good unselfish positive team play again!

Prior to this game Montez played significant minutes for St. John's (Tez scored 20). The Jonnies won in the end against St. Francis, 76-70. Next up for the RU transfer-trifecta is Myles starting for #2 UCLA against #1 Gonzaga. Game starts in aa few minutes.

Jacob's scoring has really dropped after their first two games. He had 14 & 18 in the first two but has followed those up with 8, 8 & 7. He has 55 pts for a 11 ppg average. He is 21-51 0n field goals, 4 of 16 on threes and 9-12 on free throws. He has 9 assists and 7 turnovers after 5 games.

That’s a horrible stat line. That would still make him the most efficient offensive player on our roster. But that’s a really really low bar. Hah.

49% from inside the arc (17 of 35) and 81% FREE THROWS IS HORRIBLE? One of those turnovers was on a horrible call last night (announcers quote) that took away an assist. So it should be 10 assists and 6 turnovers. The 25% from three is the poor one. And folks need to keep in mind there's another end to the court plus energy of play.
He's been on both of the last two nights coming off the bench.

EDIT: He's 9 of 11 (not 12 ) from the line .

1984, Jacob is 21 of 51 on field goals which is 41 % not 49 %. He has not been lighting things up.

I don’t think horrible is the right word, just nothing special.

Still very early in the season but so far his per game averages are pretty much in line (though slightly lower) with his season averages for last year in most categories. Minutes, points, FG made, FG attempted. Steals and assists are way down from last year.

OK, let's compare first 5 RU last year (Bryant, Niagra, Drexel, Bonnies,SF Austin) vs. first 5 Ducks this year (Tex Southern, BYU, SMU, Chaminade, St. Marys). PER GAME

Mins: 23 vs. 28
Overall Shooting: 12-33 (36%) vs. 21 of 51 (41%)
2pt Shooting: 10 of 23 (43%) vs. 17 of 35 (49%)
3pt Shooting: 2 of 10 (20%) vs. 4 of 16 (25%)
Free Throws: 11 of 19 (58%) vs. 9 of 11 (81%)
Rebounds: 2.6 vs. 3
Assists: 3.2 vs. 1.8
Turnovers: 3.2 vs. 1.4
Points: 7.4 vs. 11

The only thing lower is his assists but so are his turnovers. I am going to make the assumption that like last year he only gets better . Especially playing only five games with his new teammates.

1984 made up a new stat, just looking at his FGs inside the arc, which is 49%. So 49% on 2 pointers is not a good shooting percentage.

This feels very cherry picky to me. And still not a good stat line. You can't look at one bad call and not look at all the calls that go the other way. That's classic wishful thinking. The stat line is what it is. 9/7 assists/turnovers is very bad for any guard. 25% from 3 is very bad. 49% from two is just merely bad. 82% FT is good. But that is not a great or even good stat line for a guard. And doesn't warrant all the crying over spilled milk going on here about JY leaving.

LOL I adjusted for ONE horrible call that had the announcers complaining. Did you see it? 49% from 2 is "bad"? HA! 82% foul shooting is "good".
I'm just giving you the facts. I'm not politicking. Just proving some counter thoughts vs. those trashing the guy.

The point is he chose to be a backup there vs oddly being played as a backup here when he was one of our best players.

Keep laughing though. We just lost to one of the worst teams in all of basketball. Keep laughing.

It appears so, at least for today. Oregon getting thrashed again, this time with JY off the bench against a team we took to the wire. Oregon has 17 points near the half.

Oregon’s offense is non-existent like ours. 19 points at half against Houston. JY with 7 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers.

The bottom line" Oregon got punked last night by a more disciplined team that plays fantastically within their system. They know how to win and their long time nemesis (Gonzaga) is now a blue chip in the world of college basketball. Dana Altman's team on the other hand looked unprepared, dribbled too much and didn't distribute the ball (Hmm, where have I heard that before) and at times couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with their lousy jump shooting.

Oregon is going to get the pouting off the bench, score his and play little defense, and make multiple TOs a game JY, like 4 today.

Houston was up by over 30 and won 78-49 and Houston was 0-4 on foul shots in the last minute. Oregon looked lost again and are now only 3-3. Jacob played 21 minutes on 3-7 on fg's, 1-2 on threes and 1-2 0n free throws. He had 2 assists, 0 rebounds and 4 turnovers and 8 points. He now has 63 points in 6 games for 10.5 ppg. Somehow he played more minutes and averaged much more at RU, Maybe he should have stayed at RU. There still are many more games to play.

HE PLAYED THE 2ND MOST MINUTES ON THE TEAM
Not sure that tell the entire story. He only had 7 minutes in the first half. Zero fouls so it wasn’t foul trouble. He did have 3 TOs and no assists in the first half.

Edited to add: quick look at the box score shows 3 other Oregon players with more minutes than JY. Jacob played 21 minutes (again 7 in the first half). Other guys lodged 34, 31, 28 minutes.
